Hi there.

New here and would like to thank you for a great image.

I've got a Vu+ Solo2 and I've installed your latest image with no issues whatsoever but I do have a problema with the timezone setting showing one hour behind. Any way to fix this ?? I'm in the GMT zone in case it matters.

Cheers

Done that. If I choose  the GMT option the clock stays one hour behind. If I choose GMT+1 the clock advances two hours. Go figure ...

You either not understanding the issue or maybe I'm not making myself clear. Bottom line is if I choose GMT zone, the clock does NOT show the right time. It shows one hour behind on every given moment. For instance now it's 14.55 local time and the clock on the box shows 13.55 even though the timezone is set to GMT on the box.

Got it. Makes no difference whatsoever. Either one hour behind or two in advance ....

Here's my timezone.xlm. Could you compare it with yours ??

Thanks anyway :)

After DST off (this night) clock is wrong(still on summer time).

I`m need to set time zone to "Jerusalem" for correct time.

Found problem.

If looking in timezone.xml:

<zone name="(GMT+02:00) Helsinki, Kyiv, Sofia" zone="Europe/Istanbul" />

But zone "Europe/Istanbul" is wrong becаuse currently no DST in Turkey

It's probably easiest to manually change it to a better zone.

The entire timezone selection needs a complete overhaul, there are a lot more nuances with timezones than can be captured in an xml file.

edit: it doesn't seem to be this simple, it looks like the zoneinfo data installed on the box is far from complete, for Europe only Dublin, Istanbul and Moscow and CET as installed, so there isn't a lot of choice.

I`m changed time zone to Jerusalem and now clock is OK, but this is just workaround, not fix.

I've been looking into this. There are two issues:

  • due to space restrictions (in old boxes), not all tzdata files are installed by default
  • the timezone selection is hardcoded in an xml file, so it doesn't refect what is installed and or what is available.

The first issue can be solved, in your case, by:

opkg install tzdata-europe

After this, all European timezones, like Europe/Helsinki, Europe/Kiev and Europe/Sofia are available seperately.

Point to is more difficult to address, that needs a proper think.

I think we do not build OpenPLi for machines with small flash any more, so we need a way to "parse" installed timezones instead of having hardcoded ones.

Webgrab++ uses this as timezone reference:

and

However, as demonstrated in a subject on the EPG forum it is also not perfect.
