Hi, I have DM800HD with Openpli 2.1 installed. PLease advise where is the EPG.DAT file by default? I looked at all possible folders (inlc. tmp)but no such fiile found. I put the file location at settings (etc/enigma2 - config.misc.epgcache_filename=/media/usb/epg.dat ) , but after epg download, no such file located in the media/usb (there is mounted my USB stick). The EPG is updated from rytec feed, but still cannot find the dat file.....
Where is the EPG.DAT file?

The file is created when you shut down enigma.
Normally it is at /media/hdd/
You can set at settings, but only when enigma is stopped.
From a telnet session stop enigma wit: init 4
Now edit the settings file: config.misc.epgcache_filename=/media/usb/epg.dat
restart enigma with: init 3

if no USB is attached, epg.dat is created in root, I was asking myself why my box needs to much to go into deep standby, about > 10MB of epg.dat is each time written into /root, it just makes the flash kaputt, I tried
config.misc.epgcache_filename=/tmp/epg.dat
and I see tmp.linking file in root, that is no solution
workaround:
create in flash /root epg.dat
touch epg.dat
you have to immunize the file if you want epg.dat no to be deleted or overwritten
chattr +i epg.dat
to see whether the atrribute is ok you can check
lsattr
you can do the same on the USB device, HDD or Stick
do we need epg.dat at all?
better solution will be in config an option whether to create epg.dat or not
when the box go into deep standby there is an error message, epg.dat cannot be created or something, who cares
now my box takes almost the same time to go into deep standby as standby
