DM8000 problem with latest builds (18.04.13 )

clweb's Photo clweb 19 Apr 2013

After problem with update from 18/04/13, I reinstalled a backup from 15/04. It worded fine.

Today (19/04) I tried an update: a warning about instabilities was daisplayed. I sarted the update anyway.

After reboot a big ERROR was displayed on the box diaplay. The only way to get control again was to reflash with an older

image using Dreamup serial.

What I will try is to tranfer the new image (19/04) to the box instead of an update to see if the build is corrupt,

or if something wrong in the update process.

Yes the problem is with the updates. I installed the 190413 image and the DM8000 booted without problem.

As I was on teh way, I installed my pugins and all run without problem: reboot and enigma restart all OK.

As all seems to run stable, I will stay with that image. Sometimes it's good to restart from new.

if we ignore updating from previous versions can you confirm installing a fresh image (20130419) is ok or not ?

Yes I can confirm that on my 8000 all is ok  :) and thanks for the native ubifs, Dreambox needs it.

I've install a few plugins now and changed the skin and boot time is great, from power off to picture on screen is 1m 25s which is fantastic :)

It seems on 800SE and 500SE DMM doesn't support UBIFS... (yet?)....

dm500hd example :

These boxes have less than 60MB available for their rootfs.
If we would enable UBIFS for them, you'd have less than 5MB free in a clean OpenPLi rootfs, without having installed any plugins.

Well. I just have updated my dm800se and got the big error on the box screen. I should have read this before. I guess I will have to make a fresh flashing for tomorrow.

Just now I have nervously performed 'opkg update && opkg upgrade' to the 'OpenPLi-3.0-beta-dm8000-20130419' I installed yesterday, it was quite a big update with around 30 kernel modules plus plugins, pleased to report the upgrade went without issue.

Yes I can confirm that on my 8000 all is ok  :) and thanks for the native ubifs, Dreambox needs it.
