Hi guys - Quick question!!

 

I'm running Dreambox EPG on a dm500 (openPLI) with the epg data stored in the /tmp directory.(SkyUK only I'm interested in)

 

I have all the relevant channels mapped but missing certain channels.

 

I have done a "Update EPG Channel References" and a "UpdateUK Latest".

 

I'm still seing channels like Bravo (went offline years ago)

 

Missing:-

Sky Disney Channel (new Disney Movie channel)

Sky1+1

Sky atlantic +1

 

Plus many more...

 

My question is this... Can I manually download an updated listing so I can map the EPG to these missing channels?

It has been years that there was proper support for an end-of-life box as the DM500, afaik there are no Enigma1 epg files generated anymore.

You can try to map the channels yourself in the setup screen.

I believe it is the blue button, called map.

This has not been maintained for several years, so I do not know if it still works.  Automatic updated will certainly not work anymore.

I know how to map the channels and I have no issues doing this.

 

 

My problem is that the source files used are out of date.

 

How can I get an upto date list of channels that have the disney channel or Sky1+1, Sky atlantic+1 etc

 

I dont mind manually mapping the channels - just want to have the channels available to map!

On another note - I think you maybe pleasntly surprised How well the EPG data still works!!! Its still very much reliable and very stable, If only it were more complete.

Hi mate - I changed the line as you suggested.

 

I run the script from command line

Nothing happens  - the source list remains unchanged and I still cannot see the new channels so I am unable to map the souece to get EPG!!

It is possible it wont import because the file is in utf-8.  This has been changed sometime ago.

Okay - I been doing some research on this site

 

I was using radiotimes to update my channels and i was asking for a more complete channels.dat which is not possible because its the site itself that is out of date and beyond your control.

 

Which leaves me with UK XLMtv which could possibly be used hence your advice to change the source for e1_UK.sh.

 

can the utf-8 issue be fixed?

OK.  I can put the UK file back in ISO-8859-1

Which is supported by the enigma 1 machines. 

Tomorrow morning the automatic update will have the UK file in ISO format.

 

I did not think anyone used enigma1 anymore.  It looks like we found one.

PS: I cannt debug anything anymore for enigma1. i do not have an enigma1 machine anymore

Ok - I did an update and downloaded the latest e1_UK.sh and ran it from command prompt...

 

Output:-

Then the box just hangs.. Remote unresposive - unable to telnet or ftp to the box.. After a few mins the box reboots....

 

Not sure if this can be fixed or I'm doomed to stay with the outdated radiotimes website...

I'm sorry about this.  But since I cannot test anything anymore.  My options to help are limited.

However I remember that on DM500 it was always a problem.  On a DM600PVR and on a DM7020 it worked.  A fewpeople seem to have it run on a DM500 but most people failed.

 

Now the only solution I can offer is buying a:

 

Xtrend ET 4000 GBP 110 (€ 130) +PP

Maxdigital XP 1000 HD Linux : €159,00 +pp

 

Which are enigma2 machines.

if you only require 1 days uk epg for your openpli dm500 box, you can use the epg data from the 28.2e stream.

 

in settings, you first need to change the epg data store to SQLite database and change SQLite EPG location to /tmp

and then set number of days to 1

 

use "weekepglog" tool from the "WeekEPG" plugin to download 1 days epg for your required channels directly from the "EPG Background Audio." channel and save as MV format to file in /tmp.

use "db_epg" tool from "SQLite EPG import plugin(1.3)" to convert/write the downloaded MV format stream file into the epg.db database file in /tmp using the "epgdat" type.

 

this method will get and load your 28.2e epg directly from the satellite steam into you openpli dm500 epg without any online downloads.

just make a little script to automate the whole process

You make it sound so simple I have been playing with the weekepg and attempting what you said for almst a week. Like banging my head against a brick wall....

 

Any chance you could explain in a little more detail? Or maybe upload a basic openpli dm500 image somewhere with it preconfigured? lol

LraiZer = I have been looking at the commando image which you seem to be a driving force behind the fantastic GetEPG functionality and I'm sure much more.

 

Could the GetEPG script be adapted to work on enigma1 images or is it designed for Neutrino images only?

 

I get the impression that radiotimes epg is on the way out and Ill have no TV guide left at all!!

yes, the radiotimes xmltv maintainers at metabroadcast.com are slowly letting the xmltv data depreciate and are urging developers to start using the newer atlas api instead to access the online epg data. while access to the pressassosiation.org data in the atlas api is still free, unlike like the xmltv data, you now need to request an api key to download the epg data for personl use only.

as for a image with this mehtod built in and working, you can only wait a few weeks with crossed fingers to see if one gets made?
