My XP1000 has 1x USB port which is at the back of my receiver.

Not always easy to get at, and is a pain as I have to flash image from Fat32 formatted USB.

I partitioned my 32gb stick with 2x primary partitions 2gb Fat32 and the balance ext3.

I can write to each without any problems.

Just wondering if this causes any problems elsewhere. PTS or EPG ?

Excellent

I do the same for all my boxes (albeit one partition is in Ext4, not 3), and never have any issues.

If I want to flash I FTP the image-folder to the FAT32 partition, so I never have to fiddle with sticks.

Thanks thats good to know.

I did it for the same reason you mention. Using Pedros' Backupsuite its so easy to ftp any daily backup back to the Fat32 partition and reflash.

As for ext3 or ext4 whats the difference? I used from windows "EaseUS Partition Manager Home free" and it only has ext3 and I think you cant covert a partition via the box as it wipes the whole USB.
