Hi again,

Talking about Rytec for RAI italian channels, one example is "Ballarò", showed in EPG as " Ballarò" on RAI 3.

The problem seams for "vocals" aeiou with some accents. Tried to download EPG via the Rai script on crossepg but same result.

Thanks

Encoding issue.

"ò" in UTF-8 translates to "ò" in ISO-8859-1.

I guess the website needs to be grabbed with a different character encoding setting.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Yes, this is confusion in codepage.

Checked this and it looks good now:

<programme start="20130626093500 +0200" stop="20130626095500 +0200" channel="RAIUno.it">
    <title lang="it">Unomattina Talk</title>
    <desc lang="it">Il buongiorno di Rai Uno in compagnia di Benedetta Rinaldi, Duilio Giammaria, Arnaldo Colasanti e Ingrid Muccitelli. Dalle 6.10. Ogni giorno un tema di attualità, cronaca, ambiente e costume con storie e protagonisti Conducono Duilio Giammaria e Benedetta Rinaldi Regia di Salvatore Perfetto.</desc>
  </programme>

Hopefull it stays that way.  Because the website causes confusion as well.  Some of the pages are in utf-8 other pages are in windows-1252.  Which aides in the confusion.

Can you double check the MEDIASET as well for the same issue. Seams a lot more clear compared to RAI, but today I found the below one:

Rete 4

09:50 - 10:50     Carabinieri - [Crimine] Furto in sacrestia (Ep. 25)
+17 min

10:50 - 11:25     Ricette All' Italiana - [Soft] . [Notizie e attualità]

In my box

do 27.jun.2013 Ricette All' Italiana 10:50 35 min. [Soft] . [Notizie e attualità]

This is from another website, which does not have the big codepage problems (normally)

The XMLTV file is in utf-8.

A problem with the image or skin you use?  I am using OpenPli 3 with the PLi HD skin.

Output is the same on both Openwebif and on screen, so probably related to the image, I'm using OpenVix on Vu+ Uno

OK, I see what is the problem. I'm using the rytec "repacked" currently, and is the one that provide the wrongly coded characters

xepgdb_rytec_italy_xmltv__xepgdb_repacked_.conf:

description=Rytec Italy XMLTV (XEPGDB repacked)
protocol=xepgdb

While the rytec "standard" one has the correct encoding:

rytec_italy_xmltv.conf:
So I will change my source meanwhile

Well that is now the umpiest time I had spent time on trying to find an error caused by crossepg and/or the "repacked" files.

Crossepg and the repacked files are outside my control.  I cannot change anything in it.

Do you blame me of having a hate relation with Crossepg.  Besides this Crossepg causes also other problems.

Up to now, each time I tried to find a workaround for crossepg.  But I am going to stop this.  I have nicer things to do with my time as to solve problems with bug ridden software, which I cannot alter.

Willy I'm sorry, I'm pretty new on the scene so trying to figure out also "who does what", I didn't know crossepg and rytec were two different "family". I jhust installed openvix as first image and crossepg was the first solution I came across for EPG, but if you have anything else better to suggest me that would be very great.

Should I use XMLTV-Importer instead?

Thank you very much for your efforts, really appreciated.

Stefano

Crossepg uses our sources, but there are a couple of issues with it.

You can use Crossepg if you use the part which reads epg from the sat transponders.  If not, you better use the XMLTV importer.

The repacked db files are produced outside our control (although for some they use our files).  It is correct that they import much quicker.  But they create sometimes errors.  And since nobody addresses these errors, people tend to come here, and I cannot do anything about it.  But I lose my time searching for those errors.

If you want to use repacked files, pls refrain from searching help here.

Sometimes, I can spot right away that the eror originates from the repacked files, but sometimes I cannot.

For instance on the RAI issue here I had a problem. But not for the RETE 4 one.  You see how difficult it is.

Willy

PS: the XMLTV files require constant maintenance.  It is not set it up and it will run forever.  So errors are still possible.  And I cannot see every error myself.

I don't see any real benefit in time to use repacked instead of the single rytec files, they are maybe quicker if someone has a vast amount of EPG to gain, but if the other side of the coin is import errors it's then better to use a clean and original supported source (if you know what I mean).

Yes crossepg it's very useful for the function to read the epg from the transponder, I use it for Sky IT that include also a lot of epg (not all) of Italians cable channels broadcasted over Sat. In fact I've found few channel missing, I will open a tread for these.

Thanks again for your time Willy, keep up with the good work. If you needed any support in networking you have a Cisco specialist here  ;)

Cheers

Stefano
