Hello, I wonder if the decoding of DVB with chroma 04:02:02 in Vu + are made by hardwere or softwere? I have a VU + with SOLO2 OpenPLI 3.0, which for me is the best picture at the moment but the channels that use this chroma image does not open. Enjoying the post. Why is it not possible to open stream "MMSH" broadcasts on the net?
Vu + SOLO2 and 4:2:2 chroma

Probably the MMSH as MMS and RTSP, are using codecs WMV/VC1 and vu+ can't handle them.
Check If vu+ can play files stored locally with WMV/VC1. If it play files locally then there is a problem with gstreamer most probably.
You can find sample wmv videos here.
In hardware, so there is no way to fix this
I think only azbox is capable to open 4:2:2 feeds from enigma2 capable STB's

With respect to 4:2:2 chroma, would then be a limitation of the processors Broadcom, since the use Azbox STi's? Note, I do not speak English so I use the google translator. Sorry if the text sometimes get a little incomprehensible.
Yes its a limitation of Broadcom processors, read more here.

But is 4:2:2 available under E2 in AZ?
Or must one use Original FW?

Thanx.
For lay people like me, can you explain how come it's "known" in OFW and it isn't in E2 - both are Linux kernels and drivers are from the same company... (OK, kinda "same company"...)???

May I translate your techie answer into lay-man's terms as "cr@p company"?

And my understanding is that the RTi team has/had an inside source, which gave them "everything they needed"... Some of them were boasting about that quite a bit...
I suppose, now that they have not succeeded in a number of ways, they may change that story somewhat...

As a work-a-round you can still stream to a pc to see 4:2:2 feeds
Yeah - we can do that since dm800 era...but why should one buy an enigma2 stb then ?
The real issue there is out there is called IP or copyright. Yes..very expensive.
AZ is using one of the chips capable - the orhers are not even considering using these type of chips.
How many 4:2:2 feeds are out there ? Considering one buys an FTA, this should have been a top priority for mostly all
FTA companies including DM, VUplus etc.. Let`s see things with a different perspective: how many enigma2 boxes have
HW blindscan enabled working today ? (answer: not many).

And the feeds are using it... as it is somehow a protection...
When you do feedhunting I suggest you do not use a settop box, but you are using a PC with e.g. a spectrum analyzer as help to to find used frequencies....

I was hoping to use an stb to do blindscan searching ... unless the point is to have all this equipment for specific
reasons. For sure nothing can replace a scope. I was not perceiving chroma subsampling as being a protection measure,
but more a quality codec used for transmitting video stream. On north america turf- turbo, dicicipher and dvb-s2 ACM modulation are a protection measure.
You guys in europe only know about dvb-s2 and some highrate signals. (no offence intended - just that it had to be mentioned)

Copyright? Is that the stuff that Mierdoch likes breaking if it's other people's and enforcing if it's his own?
Aren't some of the newest machines mentioned in the 4:2:2 context? It escapes me which one now...

Let's just have a look at this thread: http://forums.openpl...new-vu-solo-4k/
The discussion about 4:2:2 continues there nicely.
