Hi,

Is it possible to use TBS5925 USB tuner on any enigma 2 machine ?

I've downloaded linux drivers , and FTP'd the file dvb-usb-tbsqbox-id5925.fw  to ET9000's  /lib/firmware folder , but  ET doesn't detect it.

I have been thinking about the same but didn't try yet (my 5925 arrived this Friday).

This USB tuner would be a great addon to a Enigma 2 machine since it would enable the reception of new modulation modes and specialy the MIS feature - Multi Input Stream on some transponders.

i guess all that is impossible until tbs release full open source driver.

part of the driver is in binary format only for x86.

Hi, is there any update on supporting tbs usb cards in openpli?

I believe there are linux opensource drivers available now on tbs site.

enigma2 must to be patched "multistream id + pls mode"..like in vdr, tvheadend  , progdvb, dvbviewer, smartdvb...since long time ..

@jpuigs, @sector_D for what receiver you want to test TBS 5925?

@WTE, what drivers did you install on Mutant box? Can you post an lsusb and dmesg if possible?

Also did you add additional patches to make it work, or newer kernels include support for TBS cards?

Because kernels 3.8 to 3.14 (I didn't check others yet) require additional patches for TBS cards + patches for STV MIS/PLS.

Hi Guys,

I have compiled Openpli5/SatDreamGr experimental images for et10000, vuduo2, vuduo, vusolo4k
with TBS drivers and Enigma2 patched for MIS/PLS till now.

Here are the steps to get the card up and running

0. Use image in FLASH, not in multiboot, clear?

1. Place TBS firmware into /lib/firmware

you can download firmware from here: http://www.tbsdtv.com/download/

2. Use Proper MIS/PLS codes

eg for Mediaset, RAI multistreams @5W, 13E you can found in https://github.com/c.../satellites.xml

3. Install kernel module, reboot

opkg update
opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-tbsusb
reboot

Most probably a new tuner will show up on the list ;)

Also if you have a sattelite with MIS/PLS report if those channels are scanned and you can tune to those channels.

Enjoy.

PS. Download links will be provided to you via PM, they are experimental images only for testing purposes.
So please don't ask for additional packages, cams, iptv or whatever.
The only purpose is to test that TBS tuner is recognized and MIS/PLS works.

I have waited a long time for the TBS 5925 to be added in OpenPLi. We have feeds in the United States that are 16apsk and even 32apsk. The stock tuners in most enigma2 receivers cannot get these types of transponders, but the TBS 5925 can.

Have been testing the 5925 with the images provided and find that channel zap times are at least equal to the zap times of the internal tuners. Seems that any transponder that can be locked with the internal tuners can also be locked with the TBS 5925. Any channel that plays using the internal tuners also plays on the TBS 5925.

Currently, C band is not available using the 5925.

Attached are screenshots of a 16apsk transponder and the channels scanned on it. The internal tuners for the Duo2 cannot "see" this transponder or tune these channels.
EBS Pro has tagged some transponders as 32apsk and the TBS 5925 has also locked these transponders using the Duo2. But I cannot confirm 32apsk completely yet.

16apsk screenshots:

I can say after a full day of testing that the TBS 5925 is the best single tuner that I have had connected to any set top box. This usb tuner will lock any transponder that I throw at it long as the transponder has a signal. I have used EBS Pro and the 5925 tuner to log transponders. Then I would try to enter the transponders that were found using EBS Pro into the Duo2 or other set top box. This was a hit and miss deal, with the internal tuners of the set top box not showing a lock on many of the EBs Pro transponders. The TBS 5925 will almost always lock the same transponder in the set top box as it does using EBS Pro. This is excellent!

As it stands with the current Test image, The TBS 5925 only needs the transponder frequency, polarization, and symbol rate to be entered into the Duo2 The other items such as DVB-S, DVB-S2, QPSK, 8PSK...etc do not need to be entered or changed for the transponder to work.

Both C and Ku bands have been tested and the results are the same for each band. Can we use two 5925 USB devices in one set top box? Would be nice to have one for each band.

16APSK Confirmed
32APSK shows working, but not confirmed with a live channel.

My main wish would be the addition of some form of a blindscan to use with the TBS 5925.

Overall, I see very little that needs to be done to this system, but I have not been using it long either.

I would like to say Thanks to OpenPLi and the other developers of this system. Overnight, my Duo2 has went from a poor channel feed receiver to a very respectable and formidable channel feed receiver. (The Duo2 can feed hunt now!) EB

Have been testing the images provided by Athoik too, and I can tune perfectly to All RAI channels at Eutelsat 5 West.

I can tune to 9 french HD channels at 12648 V. too.

The ones I can't tune to are Mediaset channels. (12669 H. - 2 streams, 12627 H. - 2 Streams, 12606 V, - 2 Streams, 12585 H. - 2 Streams)

Does anybody tune them ? Are they using T2-MI mode ?

According to FlySat and KingOfSat they aren't.

Here it has a list of T2-MI broadcasts: http://enosat.euweb.cz/t2mi.htm

I can see Mediaset included in the list. Does this answer your question?

I see it, but this list may be old, it includes just one frequency for mediaset, and now there are really 4.

Anyway, I supose all of them are T2.

Thanks.

According to FlySat and KingOfSat they aren't.

These channels are not T2-MI, there are "regular" MIS channels like the rest of this satellite, however they require at least 11.2db for lock and 12.2db for the channels to store and be watchable! Still, they seem to be a little easier to lock on pc (I have lock and picture there with 11.9db). On my VuDuo I managed to get the channels on my list but they don't play! They give SID not found in PAT!

Please check if you can get them on your PC and with what signal and if the same signal is enough to get them on your STB! Otherwise we have to report to TBS for the linux driver!
