Maybe you should consider changing your comment as it is neither fair nor correct!

You could alsow write:

OpenPLI uses only old enigma2 sources and hence we have to patch to make it work with latest Dreamboxes drivers.

Your are simply ignoring the fact that these are THEIR drivers and they can use whatever flag they want!

And one more thing to be kept in mind:

If PLi is a (rather old) fork of enigma2 then you HAVE to submit YOUR patches to the source of your fork and the owner of the source has the right to apply them or ignore them as this is consequence of GPL licenses used. If you insist that PLI is NOT a fork you can not complain at all for ANY discrepancies. And I fully agree on your other argument - you are using old sources and the gap will get bigger and bigger until it will break - probably the earlier the better, if i have to read such discussions and arguments.

Bullocks.

This has nothing do with "old" versions, forks, etc. You know better then that.

This has to do with DMM claiming enigma and the driver api, and expecting everybody (= PLi and other STB manufacturers) to blindly follow. Well I've got news for you, DMM hasn't been the leading manufacturer of enigma-receivers for some time. Actually there is little left of the once so impressive, innovative company.

Other manufacturers and also PLi are not required by any means to adhere to DMM's "standards" and yes, this is a clear example.

Tough luck for DMM.

You should at least know how Open Source development works, but I agree that I'm not the right person to explain that.

And to be honest - the leading in your claim is a little bit questionable, but this was already discussed too often :-)

I only asked to be a little bit carefull with staments blaming somebody for something which is his full right to do!

And to be honest once more - it took you almost 2 weeks to find such a simpel rootcause why AC3 doesn't work with your image on Dreamboxes with lots of false 'ideas'

Which paints for ma a very clear picture of competence, expertise and willingness and capabilities to fix problems - not matter which box.

Therefore for me this thread was very entertaining - thank you!

Is a pity that the best image of all that there, does not contain the driver AC3+.

For this, I am compelled to abandon this image, because I need AC3+ sound in my box...

Hello,

On my latest patch i took the same approach as we did for the for solo2.

I know you hate/dislike? those workarounds, but it's a petty for all of us with Dreamboxes to stick with a non working AC3+.

Code won't be faster neither slower, neither ugly since we are using #ifdef dreabox in other places too. But you will make happy people that use every day OpenPLi.

Please don't punish OpenPLi Dreambox community.

No,no,no you are wrong here!

If you have a dreambox, it's better to buy a xtrend or a vu+

Which is definatly one of  the next boxes i buy.

And people will keep buying overpriced cars for the sole reason they can afford one.

And if it brakes down they blame the dealer for doing poor service jobs instead of blaming the manufacturer of bad engineering.

Bit of an odd comparison. As I wrote, both have better specs. It's the Dreambox that's a Beetle with a Mercedes price tag.

But I wouldn't expect any other reaction from you, thanks for not disappointing me...

Talking about Dreambox status....

My first dreambox, a dm7000 was a overpriced peace.   Bad power supply, wich failed, bad working cardreaders, unsensitive tuners.

After that a DM7025. Again a bad power suppy and tuners wich made box crash when scanning. They needed to be replaced with old model tuners to get it working.

DM600. again a failing powersupply. and a tuner wich failed to switch between H and V after a while.

The Vu's i have now are reliable and less expensive then the dreamboxes.

Comparing a Dreambox to a Mercedes is a bad choice.  It is more like a Trabant.

Given the price-tags versus the specs it looks like that after 5 years DM is still no used to having serious competitors.

I agree DMM is done now, they've had their days.

However is Athoik's patch going to be included to support DD+/AC3+ on DMM boxes?

A simple ifdef wouldn't hurt right?

We know this patch is easy and in fact it was also very clean... but I think we will not do this anymore....

I would strongly recommend to ask DMM to change this to 0x22. This is the existing tender standard for several years...

But I'm scared arguing at DMM will have no effect and to date it might be too late... as likely we do not upgrade the drivers of DMM boxes anymore.

That DMM is using 0x6 indicates somehow that they are not willing to be compatible with our OpenPLi based images....
