Hi,

I'm having to pressing the  yellow button and turning off the narrator all the time!

It just goes back to it... Is there a way to remove it permanently?

I've just bought a Duo2 so want to give the dreambox to my mother but there is no way she'll remember how to switch off the narrator...

Thanks in advance!

Paul.

What do you mean with narrator? Do you mean subtitles...

If so then you need to program off the remember subtitle per service option in the auto language selection.

I think by "narrator" he means one of the audio tracks on Sky UK movie channels - Audio description for visually impaired.

So you want to have an automatic audio selection on the narator channel... Then this must be added to the languages in UsuageConfig.py.

Now we have only languages and orriginal languages in the list.

hmm, I think it's just the other way around - TS would like to get rid of the (stubborn;)) narrator...
seems that he has the audio track with additional audio description as a default one on these channels and, moreover, e2 doesn't store the proper track after the change /?/
@MrTwang
I assume it's only vuduo2 issue, on dm it's ok?
in auto language settings you have the option 'Prefer audio track stored by service' set to yes?

Ok,

So I need to add something to the languages in the UsuageConfig.py.

Is it a downloadable file or something that needs to be altered?

Really sorry for what might seem a stupid question to you... I'm trying hard to learn fast here! I'll swap you knowelage about turbo charging Honda's if it helps. lol

Problem is on the DM800se...

Yet to get my Duo2 working   Don't laugh... Said I'm new at all this!!!!!!!!

But yeah, It keeps going to story mode on default.... Just want rid of it forever...

Edit...

"in auto language settings you have the option 'Prefer audio track stored by service' set to yes?"

I'll check as soon as I get home........... This could be my answer I'm looking for!!!

Thanks for your time all of you. I'll update later!

The narrator is usually an MPEG audio track, while the actual audio is AC3. If you have stereo speakers (like me) you've probably set the preference to the MPEG audio. Simply setting the preference to AC3 solves it for the UK channels. And all boxes have AC3 decoders on board now so it doesn't make much of a difference anyway.

Thank you MiLo,

I shall have a go at it as soon as I'm home...

Got to say, love the help on this forum... I know what it's like when somebody comes on a forum asking obvious (to you guys) questions that a simple search could have revieled... However, you need to know the right keywords to do a search...

I've been on a Honda CRX forum since 2006 and get the same there, people coming on... How much power can I get if I turbo my honda questions... There are sticky with all the info on!!

So a massive thanks to all and for all the questions I still have.................

I've noticed this as well. Most channels have an AC3 track, and an MPEG audio track with narrative audio.

I've got AC3 downmix on, on all my boxes, but sometimes it still picks the MPEG track. Switching downmix off- and on fixes the problem.

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

See screenies: maybe you can add those to the config?

Although this won't help OP, as he does not want to use them.

BTW: this screen needs to be improved: it should be wider and higher.

On first screenshot there's a AC3 track. So prefering AC3 via menu should work there.
On the second there are 2 mpeg tracks. One with english and one with "NAR" language. I think it's possible to set a preferred language. Isn't it? Set it to English and it should solve the problem...

1- As you can see the screen is too smal (or better: incorrectly divided in subsection) as 'narrati' is abbreviated while there is plenty of space on the line.
2- The upper part holds a scrollbar, while the lower part has plenty of space that is never used.

Yes, but others might want to select 'nar(rative)' as default.

I would opt for that too, problem is that the stream is not always marked as such.
