Or a bigger brother:
"Optibox Evo", aka Odin m7, aka Global Innovations Genie and probably few other names that I'm not aware of. Seems similar to MaxDigital XP1000, except no CI slot but 4xNAND size. Price: 120-130 Eur, seems to be popular in extreme west (Spain, Portugal) and more or less extreme east Europe.
- Broadcom 7358a @500MHz single core, no support for SMP-dual threading like in DMM and older Vuus
- 512MB NAND, 4 MB NOR, 512 MB RAM
- Single Broadcom 7346 soft tuner
Is it any good? :
Suprisingly so. It has double OS boot capabitlity, the first one is heavily modified and improved brcm PVR sw from nexus dev kit, with additions that are similar to Spark. Could not find find any channel list, upgrade server not reachable, so did not play much with it:)
PB E2 works nicely, no complaints. From changelogs, seems that drivers are updated frequently and are written by someone competent (ok, there could be some issues with SD BQ but that seems to be standard with Nexus->DVB api ports). Tuner and drivers are brcm so no nasty surprise here (unlike some cost cutting prone boxes...)
Internal carreader slot seems happy to overclock. Nitpicking: external power supply is only 2.5A, could be a problem with power hungry USB devices and being switching type it seriously degraded Powerline network (but than again, so do others:) )
In short, for less than 130Eur really nice box !
Ole for cheap and good boxes!
