Like a first STB with BRDM processor for under €100 - that would be good for hobby: http://www.optibox.c...=product&id=202 - I am being told by the knowledgeable people that the drivers are great!

Or a bigger brother:

"Optibox Evo", aka Odin m7, aka Global Innovations Genie and probably few other names that I'm not aware of. Seems similar to MaxDigital XP1000, except no CI slot but 4xNAND size. Price: 120-130 Eur, seems to be popular in extreme west (Spain, Portugal) and more or less extreme east Europe.
- Broadcom 7358a @500MHz single core, no support for SMP-dual threading like in DMM and older Vuus
- 512MB NAND, 4 MB NOR, 512 MB RAM
- Single Broadcom 7346 soft tuner

Is it any good? :
Suprisingly so. It has double OS boot capabitlity, the first one is heavily modified and improved brcm PVR sw from nexus dev kit, with additions that are similar to Spark. Could not find find any channel list, upgrade server not reachable, so did not play much with it:)
PB E2 works nicely, no complaints. From changelogs, seems that drivers are updated frequently and are written by someone competent (ok, there could be some issues with SD BQ but that seems to be standard with Nexus->DVB api ports). Tuner and drivers are brcm so no nasty surprise here (unlike some cost cutting prone boxes...)
Internal carreader slot seems happy to overclock. Nitpicking: external power supply is only 2.5A, could be a problem with power hungry USB devices and being switching type it seriously degraded Powerline network (but than again, so do others:) )
In short, for less than 130Eur really nice box !

Ole for cheap and good boxes!

I created a new topic for that specific topic.

Please don't abuse this thread to list boxes that you'd like to see supported - one of the purposes was to have LESS work!

Oh, I see... :D Apologies... ;) Just a thought - I don't have those boxes, btw... :)

Solved. I moved this one. ;)

OK but under €100 and it still has more or less everything working, even if a little slow?

What is the alternative if you do not have more money?

I think this is great for soooo many users...

It's still a crisis for many, many people!

Those boxes have several driver quality issues, from alpha blending errors to frame buffer corruption and many many more issues.

To answer the question "What is the alternative if you do not have more money?" , well, wait to get more money and buy a proper STB.
