hi there,

i've a xtrend et 4000 with newest openpli image 4. I really like the Metrix HD Skin so i downloaded it from the feed. Im an absolute beginner so sorry for stupid question...

As far as i can remember i downloaded a modded version of metrix hd, the only one available in the plugin download section. i have a few problems:

1. the skin is too large

when i push the "ok" button i can see the infobar. but the infobar is cutted off a little. i can only see the letters for the tuner for example half size big. in other (stupid) words: it seems that the skin is a little bit to big for my screen...maybe 20 px? no idea. when i change resolution to 720p its the same problem. my tv is in auto resolution mode.

anyone any ideas?

2. xpicons not shown correctly

i downloaded xpisons 8bit and put them into the folder share/enigma2/picon. this works after a restart so i can see the nice picons in the infobar. when i select "show picons in channellist" they are also shown in channel list but when i push up or down arrow to jump thourgh the channels everything is blurry (german: verschwommen) for half a second. looks like that the fonts and picons have to load in a way. its just a little moment blurry, then everything is altight if i do nothing.

ideas?

3. some translations to german are definitly forgotten. i have a whole german settings page but "show picons in channel bar" is not translated...same for some other words all over the skin... does anyone need help to translate the rest?

4. in channellist, letters like "g" are cut off because the font is a little to big...do you have the same effect?

do i have the right skin for openpli 4? would the bere a better version instead of the modded one in the feed?

i hope someone can help me... becaue i really love this skin and i dont want to change it:-)

thanks in advance, mirko

What is the date of you latest update? Because some issue you described should be solved in between,

When you do not see the whole skin then most likely you "hide" the overscan. Then you must change you TV settings or you TV is not able to display full-hd.

hi,

last update from what? openpli? or metrix hd?

last update was from yesterday. the problems i descrived...are they problems with metrix OR openpli? do we talk about the skin or about the enigma version?

i installed a frehsly new open pli version on a brand new et 4000 out of the box with the mod skin from the feed yesterday. my tv IS 1080P full hd ! i changed everything.. box resolution, tv resolution, 16:9, auto, hz frequency...always the same... did i install the wrong metrixhd skin version? i used the mod version from the feed...and what about the xpicons? why are they blurry when i change the channel in the channel list?

About the skin size:

Just display one of this testpictures on your TV via your receiver and then you can see if your TV suffers from overscan.

Try to make a screenshot all via the webif , if this picture is the right size and on your tv it isn't then you know enough

edit: added the pictures in rar in full size

Hallo Seichobob,

Probable I should consider to one of these overscan testscreens to the image... But I can only make this in full hd resolution for the et boxes as other boxes do not support full hd osd. Please note there exists already a testscreen where you should be able to see the overscan as black and white blocks....

VU+ & XP1000 also support that.
So in fact all the boxes you support nowadays do support it.

@snoete

thanks for your advice. thats what i've done! and now eveything is great! the bugs came from the modded skin...now everything works great! i installed the original metrixhd and there were no more problems with resolution or dizzy channel list. unfortunately i dont like the fact that the original skin comes with thousands of settings and openstore and so on. i just want to have the skin, i dont need all the rest... is there somebody who is able to make a working mod skin from metrix hd? just in black colors...without all the openstore stuff and all the settings... i like the skin but i hate to install a bunch of stuff to get it work... even if i have to pay for that...

thanks

Is that so? The Duo2 doesn't, which is obvious when you try to render a 1920x1080 jpeg on the OSD...

Not sure what you mean?

Testpictures (to show overscan) won't be in OSD.

And the PLi HD skin is in 1280 x 720

Which is not full hd.

I'm not talking about a test picture, those are rendered in video, I'm talking about the framebuffer on which the OSD is rendered.

Yes, framebuffer is not full-HD; you're right there.

But I'm missing the relation with the subject, which is showing testpictures to show the amount of overscan.

It doesn't.

I was responding to your reply to littlesat, who said that the VU+ wasn't capable of fullhd to show pictures (which happens in the framebuffer).

For test pictures, it would be better to create 1-frame mpeg files (like the bootlogo), which are rendered by the video layer, so you always have the resulution used to watch TV.

One-frame mpeg pictures of a good testscreen like bootloge is huge and garanteed compressed - so for a testscreen this is not done.

The testscreen we have available now is a png and is approx 12 KByte. It us full HD without any compression.

When displaying it the ODS switches to full HD so you do see it full HD.

Only ET and XP can switch the OSD to full HD (and back afterwards)... this is also helpfull for viewing photo's in full HD.

For DMM and VU boxes this is not possible. My Solo2 shows only the left top of the testscreen.

A testscreen for showing overscan can perfectly be compressed.

Which is exactly why you should not use the framebuffer for that. And I'm pretty sure with a bit of effort you can construct a 1-frame MPEG without (visible) compression loss.

Why not test/read the current resolution of the used skin and display the appropriate testscreen e.g. 1280x720 or 1920x1080

Enclosed some test screens in 1280x720 and 1920x1080.

If the 1280 screen is placed in/as skin_default/testscreen.png it works nice and give more info than the current testscreen
