VU+ to replace Dreambox

From the 11 links 6 are questions, and the other ones are single reports that have not been confirmed by anyone.
So this doesn't really look like having issues, what would be consistent with my own experience.
If you look at the BlackHole forum you'll find a similar low number of reports.

And the longer you wait, the cheaper (and more mature) your new box will be.

Rational differences between dm8000 and vu+duo2:
- dm8000 has a useful graphic oled display that can be driven by enigma skins
- duo2 has somewhat (but not that much) newer kernel
- duo2 has hbbtv
- duo2 has much more ram and a much faster cpu
- duo2 can output at 50/60p
- duo2 has gbit ethernet
- different distribution of tuner slots
Well and that's it, I think.

If you dig that.

Back on topic, I see no reason why you should buy a new box. There isn't much that the VU+ can do that the dm8000 can't already. And 500 euros seems like a lot to spend on just a transcoding feature - for that amount you could buy a PC and enough electricity to power it to do the transcoding...

Thank you both, that pretty much sums it up
In fact:
- I can transcode otherwise
- Agree with the OLED - useful
- I don't need hbbtv
- I could certainly use a faster CPU and more RAM
- Not sure if 50/60p is supported on my TV
- I could also use a gigabit LAN
- Seems the tuner slots are not as good as the DM
I suppose I'll wait until my DM dies.
BTW, I just upgraded from 3.0 to 4.0 this afternoon and, so far so good.

Which feature is "relevant" is always a slippery slope.
