Dear All,

 

Since this morning, my Open Pli installed on a vu+duo is crashing every 20 minutes!

 

I have no idea what is going on as this version has been running with no issue since years.

 

Find attach the crash log.

You are confusing me!!

I am 600% sure this is an open pli image. In the info page it tells me Open pli version 2.1.

I am really sure of that. Any other idea?

There has been a period, that the contact mail was wrong in the crash log.
So it is possible.

As a final action, i will try to dump a bit of code.
I just hope that this won't crash.

 

A segfault, so nothing much to do about it. The logfile however is full of

HTTP connection destruct
~eHTTPConnection, status still 0
destruct, this 0x2cde8aa0!

 

So the question is what are you doing on the poor box that if finally crashes?

Yes PLI version is very old, the point is that I am not doing anything special on the box. I have not installed anything recently, and problem occurs only since this morning.

I also saw that the crash happens when the box is in standby, without watching TV (there are lots of crash log that were created with the box in standby, every 15-20 minutes).

 

Something strange I noticed is that when I do a network test, it tell that the network cable is "disconnected", but, I can connect to the box with telnet and also stream TV to my Ipad with no problem (I have no wireless)

 

More ideas please? Would a full reinstall of pli 4.0 fix it?

My guess is that something is trying to make http connections, that constantly fail and eat up all memory in the box.

 

Since nothing in an OpenPLi image will initiate a connection to the outside, I was wondering what is running on the box? you have TSpanel installed I see in the log. Were you using that, or does that contain some form of phone-home?

 

edit: perhaps you should start with your internet connection. Since it reports issues, check for the correct default gateway and DNS settings. If one of them is not ok, local LAN on IP still works, but nothing else does.

We had a power cut recently! (box has been on during years)

Ok, was thrown off due to this being in the log:

Search the forums for C807. You'll find plenty of threads about it, including one that has pictures of the replacement proces.

I changed the C807, reinstalled pli 4.0, and same symptoms, from time to time, it crashes.

Seems to work now! Looks like pli4 or the change of the capacitor fixed it. I thought that problem was still there because while scaning channel during install it was crashing at the end. It seems to be an issue with pli4 because since hour now there is no issue anymore.
