Hi Folks

I want to create an image similar to the NFI images that can be created on Vu's

a complete system backup via one image on the XP1000 - whats the best plugin software if any that can do this ?

Basically I want to back up ALL my settings into one image if possible that can be flashed using the normal image flashing process - or failing that a good backup solution that can be easily restored after a reflash of a system - want to backup all settings / channels / softcams / mounts

possible on OpenPli 4.0 latest ?

yes after reboot its there

but i have errors after backup to hard drive on network (serverblackrec) and to usb (satflash)

see pics attached

for the hard drive backup on another PC - I checked during the backup and the files were being created - but at the end there seemed to be some kind of error and they were deleted - there was a "bi" folder which held the files and as soon as the program crashed they and the "bi" folder seemed to be deleted

here are the errors in photos attached - any ideas ?

Please upload the BackupSuite.log from /tmp/

Try to make a new back-up on the satflash but renaming the USB stick so there is no space in the name, it is now called sat flash, try renaming it to sat_flash and run the program again.

However it shouldn't be a problem spaces in the name but I have to check if an old error is crept in again.

Are there any folders with a backup, please check if there are folders xp1000 and fullbackup_etc..

Please don't mix the errors from 2 different tries, first try the USB version and upload the BackupSuite.log and show every screen there is if possible.

hi Pedro

here is the log from with a mounted directory on the PC - tried with a different share called "aaa"

Attached File  BackupSuite_SATFLASH_USB.log   1.35KB   4 downloads

Hi Pedro

here is the log for trying with the SATFLASH volume name USB

hopefully this helps - same error onscreen as before in photo (post #7)   - no files or folders created

maybe it is OpenPli 4.0 related - OpenPli 4.0 is new right ?

although I don't want to downgrade to 3.0 as everything else is working great - just need a backup solution - I know you will solve it :)

Can't look at it now, I shall look at it tonight but it has nothing to do with Openpli 4.0

Please unpack enclosed script en copy it to your receiver at:

/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/BackupSuite-HDD/

The "normal" XP1000 reports itself as xp1000, this receiver as a xp1000s.

Just try this version and give some feedback if it works or not

:D yes works this time Pedro thanks so much

this Octagon SF8 XP1000 is almost the same as the Max Digital XP1000 except for the front panel - yes it might identify itself differently

just something I noticed - in the OpenPli image downloaded there is a file called splash.bin in the "xp1000" folder - however in the backup folder "xp1000s"  created by backupsuite this file is missing - is it an important file ? or will it flash / restore without it ?

thanks

I don't know your box, but normally you can flash your box without splash.bin.

At best try it once, so you can be sure that it works in emergency case.

The splash.bin is just a picture but is not included here on the Openpli images. Your image isn't an Openpli image but an Openpli based image if I'm not mistaken.

The splash.bin isn't necessary to get a working back-up it is only some window dressing.

With the next release the BackupSuite will also support the Octagon SF8 XP1000 (without any guarantee! :P )

Are the folder names equal? If you take an original image is the folder name also xp1000s? Waiting until you really need your back-up isn't such a good idea I think. A none tested back-up isn't a back-up. No guts...... no glory!

I see that the folder names differ, in your original image it is xp1000. This back-up won't restore without altering the folder name. In the next version this will be corrected.
