Hi All

Trying to to get this terrestrial stick working under latest (this month) OpenPli - using Octagon SF8 HD box  - same as Max Digital XP1000

here is the stick

http://image.ec21.co...DVB-T_Stick.jpg

For this or any DVB-T stick - Is it a simple case of copying the correct firmare (.fw) file to /lib/firmware/ - and then reboot - are there any other steps needed ?

Once you plug in the tuner into the USB slot should it then show up under Tuner config under Service Searching in the menu ?

According to LinuxTV (http://www.linuxtv.o..._Devices#WandTV) WandTV uses Afatech AF9035.

So you need to install the following:
opkg update
opkg install enigma2-plugin-drivers-dvb-usb-af9035
reboot
Good luck.

well ... almost perfect - weird its not there on a reboot - tuner has disappeared - redid your instructions in post #2

and it still does not reappear - why would it disappear on a reboot I wonder - and then after reinstalling not appear - it's like the driver is not getting fully installed - is there  a command to remove it ?

and then I will try to reinstall (or any other suggestions)  - these dvb-t devices are troublesome :)

The command is opkg remove "package"

Strange that it worked and now it doesn't..

usb extension lead appears to have gone faulty ... that's it plugging tuner directly without using extension lead works again

thank you athoik - all fine

hi athoik / fellow members

- dont think the problem was the usb extension lead

unfortunately i have to revisit this post again to seek help

the wand dvb-t stick worked for a while maybe a week or so and i gave up - so i am back trying again and looking for help

i have updated to latest open pli 4 for Xp1000 / Octagon SF8 - 27th Feb 2014 version

The proper firmwares are in the directory for the Wand TV

I have retried your instructions in post #2 athoik - it said already installed - so i even did a force re-install

i am getting messages "kernel tainted " and it seem to detect my dvb-t stick as a DVB-S2 device

I have attached some screenshots of my dmesg / grep / lsusb commands to try and debug

https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing

https://drive.google...dit?usp=sharing

It would not allow me to post as images so i gave URLs instead

here are some screenshots of my efforts - but now I am stuck and need any help i can get - any ideas / experiences like this ?

Hi, it seems your device is recongized as Keyboard!

It is a know isue read here (General important note! (1) USB DVB is wrongly identified as a HID device): http://linuxtv.org/w...Cap_DVB_T_Stick

thanks athoik
i went to the link and had a look at the fixes
the file usbhid.conf was not present at  /etc/modprobe.d/ so i have created the file usbhid.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/
and put the line :     options usbhid quirks=0x15a4:0x1001:0x0004 ........... in it and saved it

I rebooted - so i have only done step 1 of the fix

step 2 instructs me to do as follows :

2. if HID driver is incorporated into kernel, these boot parameters must be appended:
usbhid.quirks=0x15a4:0x1001:0x0004
this goes in, i.e. /boot/grub/menu.lst (grub.conf) , or other means of linux bootconfig.

....so after exploring the "boot" folder - there are no other folders in there - so i dont have a "grub.conf" file to edit ??

what should i do now - is there an equivalent startup / menu.lst boot config file that i need to amend (or create from new)
in which i put this line into : usbhid.quirks=0x15a4:0x1001:0x0004

so i have done step 1. (created usbhid.conf) - but i am stuck at step 2 as there is no "grub" folder - and i want to proceed slowly to get this right

then there is the instruction further down the page

Compiling with Linux kernel 3.x.y. Needs small patching of the source

hope i dont need to do that as it looks scary :)

here is the latest dmesg BELOW - still looks like it thinks its a keyboard - is there any easy way i can easilty attach a text file here ??

thanks athoik

that code looks like its old - the dates seems to say about 2007 - surely it should be included in the recent kernels ?

is that something i should attempt to do ? - to be honest i wouldnt know where to start - as im a total newbie with linux

is it something each user has to do - ie flash their set top box with this patch ? - thanks

Hi,

I think patch is quite simple (the idea is to add stick to ignore list as the command does) here is what i did:
