Hi
Why my DM500HD (openpli 3) is playing wmv-files and my VU+ Solo2 (Openpli 4) is not, is this format dropped out?
Thanks in advance,
Proximus

Often it's a matter of license. I'm pretty sure that if VU+ had a license for it, the drivers would support it (as it's an argument to sell).
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)
Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

In other words, it's not something OpenPLi is to decide, the manufacturer decides what codecs are supported (drivers).

wmv is not mentioned in the changelog?
"- Support more video codecs in media playback.(OE 2.1 gstreamer)"
This one maybe?

As the log says: automatically. What about:
- FPGA update in solo2(done automatically in the first bootup after installation)
Is this only in the original image?
How do we do this in Openpli 4?
Can we copy just the drivers and test or is there more to it?

I am afraid this will bloat the drivers considerately. I hope at some time new drivers will get released without the FPGA update. OTOH maybe it's just a small piece of code.

it doesn't matter, before last the fpga firmware code was inside the fpga_directc.ko, now it's inside the dvb-bcm7356.ko, so pound for pound the outcome is the same
the funny thing from this version is the clone protection function ( brcm_fpga_timebomb() and brcm_fpga_secu_random_timebomb() )
guess what that does

Hi,
Where do you read that?the funny thing from this version is the clone protection function ( brcm_fpga_timebomb() and brcm_fpga_secu_random_timebomb
perhaps with a hex editor.
btw. the first test in another board showed that WMV was working for at least one file.
ciao
