Hi,

My OCTAGON SF8 HD won't boot. It gets stuck at boot image.

I tried to flash every possible image, no luck.

I can access the receiver via FTP, can you please take a lock at my log file enigma2_crash?

Can I delete all files from the receiver and try to flash again? I would appreciate some help please.

Thank you

Does your box have a security board like the xtrend receivers?

If you had a xtrend receiver I would say, your box is bricked and you'll have to send it to repair.

Its not an xtrend receiver.

Can I login into the box and REMOVE every file from it? and than try a fresh install?

That would be my last option I know, but I don't want to waste another weekend on it. I will trough it away anyway. Unless you have a better idea !?

Thank for your help betacentauri

First of all I changed the subject. I didn't really appreciate the phrase.

Isn't the octagon a Maxdigital xp1000 with a display? I would recommend to flash the box with the latest image. You used, as it seems, an old image.
And after that, please let us know what happened.

Sorry Frenske.

I tried again the latest openpli version but the issue remains.

As you can see, the LOG is similar.

An image flash removes all files from the box. So try again to flash the box. Try different USB sticks. Small, old sticks often work better for flashing.

I guess flashing didn't work. I see this in your log:

<compiledate>Nov 25 2013</compiledate>
...
<sourcedate>2013-11-24</sourcedate>

So it seems not to be the latest image.

Also tried the Maxdigital xp1000 firmware (didn't found the official website but found this file in a forum - xp-3.0-xp1000-20121105223005_usb.zip, claiming it was the official firmware).

It also didn't work.

I don't know the box, but I guess you should see something like "flashing" in the display when you boot the box with USB stick (with unzipped image) and after pressing "ok" or something like that. Do you see that the box is flashing? Do the leds of the stick glow?

Take this words from betacentauru: " Try different USB sticks. Small, old sticks often work better for flashing."

I have the same receiver, and I use an old usb stick 256MB, and all works fine.

try it

Are you certain you have an octagon  SF8?

Some people confuse a gigablue or ibox2 with the octagon sf8. Loading this drivers you get the same error.

I'm sure I have an Octagon, I have flashed it about 10 times before.

I removed all files via FTP (EVERY FILE), flashed again with a new USB stick, hangs on boot again. I could log in again via FTP and all the files are there again /proc /sys /etc

The date on the files is awkward, 01-01-1970

<openpli>
<enigma2>
<crashdate>Thu Jan  1 01:06:00 1970</crashdate>
<compiledate>Nov 25 2013</compiledate>
...
...
FATAL: no framebuffer available

Please do yourself a favor. DON'T BUY an OCTAGON. I have even disassemble it, and the quality is so poor.

No warranty more. I opened it. It was always rebotting at the begging. So I open it to fix that, it was a bad contact. The rebooting I was able to fix with some duck tape, now I have this problem. Give up. Will Buy another. NOT OCTAGON

Without HDD, only USB stick with this 4 files in directory ? May be, defect on USB flash ? Try format it in Pc and check it for possible errors.
