VU+ can boot from USB but requires to manually patch the cfe bootloader config settings. There was a script to do that in VTI forum but I would not recommend it for the average Joe. If wrongly patched, it would make the box unbootable. On Dreamboxes you can easily configure boot from USB from the bootloader menu when in stop mode.

gutemine has stopped active support for PLi Images als PLi team stopped active support for Dreamboxes.

Live with the consequences or do better.

Dreambox boot from usb just fine! (Athough you still nfi dump is there an open source alternative?)

Actually there is a better way and it is called kexec, but i am afraid there are no skilled programmers (or those with skills don't care)....

So sad...

Hello,

Since VU and Xtrend choosen CFE as a bootloader is there a configuration file like "autoexec.bat on Dreamboxes" for CFE?

PS. Changing boot is possible via serial console by pressing CTRL+C, but this not possible for end users. Booting from USB doesn't mess with different kernels, you have enough space, you don't pressure flash by reflashing every so and generally is good option if you quickly want to test a new image...
