It won't happen either because CPU doesn't support or because DMM is not adding new features on DM8000.

Anyway it's up to manufacture to release (closed) drivers with more media support...

PS. Regarding Duo2 most probably you are not using OpenPLi right? Because we are trying hardly to enable WMA/WMV on OpenPLi...

It will not work with any image. Afaik DMM doesn't have a license for it, so it's not enabled in the drivers.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

This is a wonder after all these years....

Some people and companies never stop to amaze us.  :)

Would be nice to have the new drivers and kernel in OpenPli.

For the dm8000 You just need to install gst-ffmpeg. The current driver still does not support wma. That off dm800se and 7020hd well so there gst-ffmepg is not required.

telnet to you're box, and use :

opkg install gst-ffmpeg.

Then it works up to wma version 8 (not 9) trough software decoding using gstreamer for asf I do not know.

So if I understand correctly the dm8000 (I thought it was not supported anymore?) can hardware decode wma/wmv using the new drivers.

The dm800se/dm500hd/dm7020hd will do it in software using gst-ffmpeg?

In general you can forget decoding in software. The box has just enough CPU to drive the GUI.

The hardware must support it, and the drivers must enable it (which usually depends on the license the manufacturer bought).

That's why the new drivers for DM8000 from 13-03-2014 are nice.

They have hardware wma/wmv support.

But you need to have them installed in OpenPLI 4.0 with the new gst-dbdmediasink from schwerkraft git, before you can use the hardware decode .
