Zeros.

Just executed your step by step guide. Execution and installing worked like a charm! I still don't know why the original Dreambox-fullbackup.sh would not install. I used DCC with build-in Telnet module. Perhaps this caused unforseen problems? Installed PuTTY on my laptop and used the Dreambox-fullbackup.sh from there and see: No errors! Installed dFlash 12.6 and rebootet my DM8000. Made a backup with your dream-fullbackup.sh (it did automatically upon completion of the script). Made a test backup with the newly installed dFlash 12.6 and this completed without errors.

Thanks a lot! You have made me very happy....

One last question.. Can I use the newly created .nfi backup directly from the WebIf? Or from DreamUp? Or do I need some extra presettings to perform a flash... Is this dFlash now without TimeBomb?

Again, many many thanks!!!

Yes, you can use it directly from the WebIf, if your PC is not too old ;-)
Also DreamUp is OK.
Also dFlash has 'Flash' option and that is also OK (you can Flash directly from your box).
dFlash is always without TimeBomb. The so called TimeBomb is time with big upgrades, which break up the existing dependencies.

Again. Thanks for your support. My PC is not too old :) I regularly use this laptop to flash my XP1000 STB and boxes from other people.. It's not necessarily the PC you are using but the browser you are using to flash. I prefer FireFox portable which has never let me down...

I know for a fact that there is/was a timebomb in nfiwrite from Gutemine's dFlash resulting in a 0kB .nfi file.. This forced people to upgrade dFlash on a regular basis.

Tested the dFlash 12.6 backup feature.. Seems to work perfectly again. It is safe to install dFlash 13.6. Or would the entire update circus start again?

dFlash 12.6 is not found in the Applications list (at least it shows no icon for it). It is now found under System/Flashen & Backup.

Can I install the enigma2-plugins-dflash13_6.ipk the usual way by placing it in /var/volatile/tmp and install plugins locally. Or using your step 2 in the installation guide you made?

If you want to newer version (dflash 13.x original exklusive binaries), you must install at least 8 IPK files:

dreambox-buildimage
enigma2-plugin-extensions-dflash_13.6
mtd-utils-mkfs.jffs2
mtd-utils-mkfs.ubifs
mtd-utils-nand-check
mtd-utils-nanddump
mtd-utils-sumtool
mtd-utils-ubinize

Install them exactly in the same way.
But is it worth the hassle?

I don't know if it offers more functionality than version 12.6. Since the latest .ipk's are now on the box, if simply assumed that only the dflash 13.6 program needed to be updated... Unless those 8 ipk's are really necessary I will stick to the 12.6 since this works fine. Finally a full backup after over a year of absence....

Yes, those 8 ipk's are really necessary! Without them this version 13.6 does not work.

Since you have fullbackup, you now have a lot of options to try all sorts of things.
If you fail, even if the violation full advantage of the system files, you will get a few minutes to restore the original state.
I have tested a lot of unknowns plugins and a variety of changes in the system files, knowing for sure that I can always reset the original state with a few minutes. Updating your PLi can do every day and you can easily come back, if needed. This is why fullbackup is very necessary to have. :-)

Tried the dFlash 13.6 on my DM800-SE iin the bedroom. Indeed does not offer any extras (at least not visible to me). Installed the dreambox-fullbackup.sh onto the STB first.. Executed properly. Checked the HDD (Backup DIR existed) alas no .NFI file... Reallised I use a USB stick to store the Picons.. Seems your script finds and uses the USB stick first which actually makes sense, it's a lot bigget than the internal flash memory. Installed dFlash 12.6 again and made a backup. This one however is stored on the 'real' HDD... Saved backups from both STB's onto my NAS for extra safekeeping...

Again a very very big thank you to you and Athoik off course to make this possible again...

Hello zeros, I followed your guide on my DM8000 original OpenPLi 4.0. Everything perfect, created backup in /media/hdd. Then I followed the installation of the two ipk. Everything ok but when I restart the decoder, I go in the plugin but can not find DFlash ??? What do I have to do now? thank you

Hi guys, what is the dflash part for? If I back up using the script, save the nfi can I not just install this via Internet Explorer at the enigmas IP address?

Or, also, you can directly restore with aid of that plugin.

Let's say it this way ... this thread contains more nonsense advice like seriously confirming that you HAVE to install ubifs tools on a box which uses jffs2 ...
