My 5 years old MultiPiP for Mac has all Octagon features ...but multiple HD-channels was too heavy for my iMac and killed it...

So I abandoned that very nice system. Especially QuadSplit was a joy :)

Providers might have to rethink about locking facility, then... in time... under pressure from us... :D

Code Word over Encryption. For which you need a CI so you can decode the codeword. No more softcams, no more sharing.

Several providers already started with it, either on their premium channels (like sports) or their HD channels.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

@WanWizard Thank you for the explanation.

I did a brief Google search and most of the responses were to do with some form of "Bacteria" , derived from plant matter. Apparently its a highly technical subject.

I believe the concept is known with various names, not only cwoe. Maybe if you search for "encrypted codeword" you'll have more success.

I don't read PM -> if you have something to ask or to report, do it in the forum so others can benefit. I don't take freelance jobs.
Ik lees geen PM -> als je iets te vragen of te melden hebt, doe het op het forum, zodat anderen er ook wat aan hebben.

Bottom line is that the codeword that comes out of the card is still encrypted, and requires either logic in a CI, or in the box itself (in the case of hard pairing of card and box) to be decrypted.

It's a matter of reading out the BK/RSA, isn't it? Then, a card can go into one of our boxes... Like in Nagra 3 or Conax CAS7 cases... Allegedly, some know how to do it....

Otherwise, the providers lock you to their equipment and their equipment alone - and the prices go up, which is not something that EU encourages...

The customer was supposed to have choices, which system ensures competition and versatility working for the consumer...

But EU Commission is not exactly perfect in this sense, is it... Just see Mierdoch monopolies, for instance...

CWOE - or how you call it does not really matter. It is here to stay. The rest is wishful thinking.

People will buy FTA receivers just for that. Why else ? Or you buy the cam as you already done in the past..and use it.

You cannot go around locked flash sectors...unless there is a backdoor.

Most of the people are not considering this route. And I tend to agree with them. Not worth it.

And if there wasn't - they "blasted" their way into a card...

It isn't a backdoor if it's put there intentionally for use by a select group.

It's more of a service entrance really.
