servicemp3 is more a historical name.... it does not describe the exact functionality.... confusing indeed...

Wel which is fun , is that recordings and mp4 mov files all do work pretty well . Using gst1.0 . By me it seemed to be the audio only media files which do not play .

Which wonders me is that the dvd player does not use gstreamer. Gues it uses own libs like for example the xine and vlc player are doeing then ?

As the totem player now uses gstreamer since more then two years and stable (since two years) 3 years ago it was better to use totem xine or vlc .

And the progress bar works as expected? With gst1.0.7 and old servicemp3 we had problems. Progress was at 1 minute after 5 seconds playback.

Here my latest patch to servicemp3, its minimal tested (due to opening olympic games!) but should work.

- Starting and stopping of gstreamer objects overhauled

- Fiddled around with m_state status so searching in playline buffer while its not ready should not occur any longer

- Overhauled buffering and corrected reactions on gstreamer state changes.

- Added some important messages like GST_MESSAGE_NEW_CLOCK, GST_MESSAGE_CLOCK_LOST and GST_MESSAGE_LATENCY

- Perhaps more I already forgot about

As usual open minded for suggestions, additions and criticism

I think after fixing a couple of GS, progress bar is working. Also subtitles are working now.

OFC we need to introduce an OpenPLi 5 (alpha) so more people (mostly developers) to get involved.

A branch with the changes would be nice. Searching a thread for patches is not a good idea...

Perhaps you can use Github and everybody can take part...

(I most likely not, because I have very little time at the moment...)

With latest patch servicemp3 on vuduo2 mp3 still does not play, but a i'm starting to think that I just forgot on or other plugin.

All works fine on my XP1000 mp3 files and mp3 streams so your no play on vuduo2 has another source of trouble.

What happens if you start the mp3 file or stream by hand from the cli after putting the box in init 4 mode?

gst-launch-1.0 -v playbin ....

So gstreamer does something that the sink doesnt approve!

caps = NULL isnt sound either!

Unable to set hw params for playback: Invalid argument

Perhaps to start with is comparing old gstreamer0.1 behaviour/output against gstreamer1.0 ?

I presume the caps are not set right and like Athoik already said gstreamer1.0 is picky about setting them exactly right where gstreamer0.1 doesnt care that much.

Yes, try to see what the output of this is:

caps = audio/x-raw (must be wrong with gstreamer1.0 for the mp3 that isnt playing!)

unfortunately the gst-launch does not work with standard pli
