Can you make a screenshot from what you get now?

.
I need a bigger sized font for subtitles, if that's possible.
Thanks

Did you set size in Subtitle Quickmenu to maximal size ? When are subtitles activated, then press "yellow, yellow, blue"  or "subtitle" and then "blue"  or in Subtitle selection choose item Subtitle Quickmenu.

If it is on maximum (54px) , here is patch for txt subtitles size to 60px.

then

The subs in janejak's screenshot are actually Teletext subs. You can see the service reference in the screenshot file name, and this is from "Discovery (N)" on 0.8W. That service only has one subtitle track (Norwegian Teletext).

I don't have that problem on the same service. Looks fine here. My enigma is from 2014-11-13 (didn't reflash after the C library update yet so I'm not quite up to date).

No, this are DVB subs.  On txt cannot exist this problem.  It depends on broadcasted event, how it was produced.

Sorry, but I still doubt that. The service reference in his screenshot filename, the channel logo, the language of the subtitles, all these match the service I mentioned, and the only subtitle track there is teletext. Plus I've seen a similar issue (maybe not exactly the same, but similar at least) with teletext subs years ago. It had something to do with a fixed line-height specified in a skin_user.xml back then, but I don't remember the details.

But you can wait for janejak to confirm what service this is from and what subtitle track is selected, and you will get a definitive answer. But I still believe my guess is correct.

Yes I have already the maximum value for font size.

How can I apply the patch to increase the font size?

Thanks

It is patch for PLi repo, not for box. You must wait, if will be merged or no.

Let's first determine if it will help. 54 pts is already HUGE. Can TS confirm that the size of the subtitles also gets smaller if the font size is decreased?

You'll need to increase the maximum sizes anyway if you're going to support 1920x1080 skins.

Hi, yes if set to a lower value, the font size decrease.
So increasing the value up to 60 or more, would be good.

Hope you can merge the patch in the next update.

Thanks

Nope.... For 1920x1080 skins you do not have to change it.... But you have to make a smarter patch when you want to keep fonts in the same size between different resolution skins...

I'm afraid you could wait long as I do not have a high priority in creating a 1920x1080 skin...

I'm patient. In the meantime the dumb font increasing works fine for high resolution skins.

And indeed: creating a 1920x1080 skin is a lot of work. Especially because of the amount of patches needed to overcome hard coded, unskinnable parts.

I suggest we apply the patch, modified, with the upper limit even higher for future HD skins. Littlesat, the subtitles are rendered in the OSD layer, so the resolution of the OSD does matter.

You could simply arrange that a 1920x1080 skin scales all the loaded fonts with an additional offset.... So for these skins this is not a requirement at all, but something that was not smart made there were these skin(s) are implemented. We likely forbid all those checks for having a 1920x1080 osd in the code and then use other fixed sizes . We solve it a smarter way by letting the skin decide the widths and/or calculate a fixed with by using the by skin configured hights..

But this time, before satkiekerd is pinching here again... I'm the "sailor on the land" as we did not implemented 1920x1080 skins (yet). At these moment I really do not see the advantages as just telling we have a 1920x1080 skin.... It slows down then osd a bit and when sitting on the sofa you do not see the difference anymore.... Too much efford for the gain it offers...

Note when a good graphical skinner is willing to create a 1920x1080 skin for us... I'm willing to help him to change then code for him in a more propper way, by adding new features he needs instead of adding new fixed values depending on then osd mode...

Unless these of topic comments we of course can add sizes to the subs...

HI. Could the teletext subtitle font be reverted to "valis_enigma.ttf" as default? It was just easier to read...

It is for 99% the same....  Only the nummeric characters are taken from a different font there....

Do you have a valis_enigma.ttf with italic and bold??? When you find a good looking font with italic and bold and italic/bold also included I can consider to change it....

Why would you need italic and bold for teletext subtitles? Am I missing something?
