Just upgraded to OpenPli 4.0 from 3.0. (long time since I bothered to update the box, I know...)

Hardware is VU+ Duo (not Duo2) and I get very slow reaction from remote control usage. It just takes a long time for the screen to update according to what I press on the remote, for example moving in menus and going up/down in lists.

CPU usage is low do I don't think that is the problem.

Couldn't find anything about this in previous posts. I read the Duo2 had issues, but that seemed to be another cause/effect.

Reverting to backed up 3.0 cured the problem and trying a recent Blackhole was also quick.

Any ideas?

slow reaction with VU is only the first time during installation, should be normal if you are out of the install wizard, if the box has recived the right date/time from  sat or something

That was what I read about the Duo2, don't think this is my problem as the box has the correct time. I never run the wizard as it gets settings from autobackup.

Everything seems to work but it is just soo slow in remote control response. Even after a reboot.

Try to reinstall an image without "autobackup" restore to see if this help.

Check if you have enough free memory by telnetting to your box and running "free" command. I have this problem on my Duo, 128MB RAM is very little these days. Especially in my case with transmission and nfs server running, plus streaming TV channels to my XBMC on RaspberryPi. I found out that even 128MB swap file I created is not enough :D. I know, I know, I'm really abusing my poor old satellite receiver... :D

Don't draw any conclusions on the output of "free". If it reports only a few MB free, that is perfectly normal, even for boxes with 1GB RAM.

I will give 4.0 a new try later on. Free on my 3.0 gave the following:

             total used free shared buffers
Mem: 138164 123392 14772 0 4072
-/+ buffers: 119320 18844
Swap: 0 0 0

This is with NFS-server etc.

But 4.0 on a Vu+ Duo should work OK without no big performance difference to 3.0?

I really would like to use the backup of my settings. I have 14 LNBs and lots of sats to set up otherwise - takes forever...
