Does anybody know any way of preventing external USB tuners (C & D) on an ET9000 swap positions when rebooting ?

Hi,

You just learn and play with udev, check here:

OK.

I have a dm7020hd too, which has several smargo readers, and I had the same problem with USB ports swapping, I managed some time ago to rename them, using a file (/etc/udev/rules/31-smargo.rules) which had the following text inside:

 SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", KERNEL=="ttyUSB*", ATTRS{serial}=="Reader 74", SYMLINK+="smargo1"
 SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", KERNEL=="ttyUSB*", ATTRS{serial}=="Reader 63", SYMLINK+="smargo2"
 SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", KERNEL=="ttyUSB*", ATTRS{serial}=="Reader 3", SYMLINK+="smargo3"
 SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", KERNEL=="ttyUSB*", ATTRS{serial}=="A8007wrQ", SYMLINK+="te21usb"
 SUBSYSTEMS=="usb", KERNEL=="ttyUSB*", ATTRS{serial}=="A7031F41", SYMLINK+="easymouse"

So now, on softcams I replace /dev/ttyUSB0,1,2,3,4, with their names (/dev/smargo1,2,...), and the problem is over.

But now, talking about tuners,  I know i should "rename" tuners, but don't know how.

Besides, I see a udevinfo command, and none of my machines have it inside.

Hi,

Tuner are "mounted" on  /dev/dvb/adapter0/

then you have severals files: frontendx (where x is the tuner position 0=A, 1=B, 2=C, 4=D)

Hi,

By the way, I mentioned the Technisat makes some mess in ET-**** STB...

The tuner position is not stable with sometimes vanishing settings.. It is very often necessary to check if the tuner setting is still as expected; I.e. loopthrough to tuner X for instance.

I was using the Anysee E7 S2 before.. Never observed such behavior.. Tuner position and settings were stable.

In addition, using both the Techchnisat and DVB-T USB tuner occupy too much CPU ressources: corrupted pictures.

This Technisat is definitly not the best choice for our STB...

You just learn and play with udev, check here:

Not much use, the box doesn't run udev. Try "mdev" instead.

This topic became interesting again for me, since I have recently add another USB-tuner.
Forgive my lack of knowledge, but with the answers given her I still don't know what to do to fix the positions for my USB-tuners.

I have a TBS5925-tuner and a RTL2832U DVB-T-tuner which I want to be tuner E resp. F and keep that way also after a reset.

I have googled 'mdev' but can't figure out what I should do.

In /dev/dvb I have the folders adapter0, adapter1 and adapter2.

In /dev/dvb/adapter0 a lot of files and frontend0 .. 5

In the others only demux0, dvr0, frontend0 and net0 (both the same)

You could try playing with options in modprobe.

options dvb_usb_xxxxxx adapter_nr=2

options dvb_usb_af9035 adapter_nr=3

Although I currently don't need it, thanks.

I've just tested with an DVB-T Aver HDpro (A835B)  and a TBS-5925, on ET10000 (4 DVB-S2 Internal Tuners) and I can force those 2 USB tuners to be the 5th. or 6th.

If I create a file called tuners.conf inside /etc/modprobe.d/ with this text inside it:

options dvb_usb_tbsusb adapter_nr=2
options dvb_usb_af9035 adapter_nr=1

I get A835B (DVB-T) at 5th. place (E) and TBS-5925 at 6th. one (F)      Attached File  6-5.jpg   76.56KB   2 downloads

However, If I write ....:

options dvb_usb_tbsusb adapter_nr=1
options dvb_usb_af9035 adapter_nr=2

then, I get TBS-5925 at 5th. place and A835B (DVB-T) at 6th. one         Attached File  5-6.jpg   87.44KB   2 downloads

Hope this helps.
