Hello Guyzz

I'm a longtime DM7000S Enigma user , primarily using Linux (Mint) as my PC OS , but occationaly boots Win-XP (DreamboxEdit).

I have just ordered a VU+Solo-2 box , as per recommendation from a friend.

I would like a few hints if possible , in my "quest" to learn openpli 4.

1:

I normally use dreamboxedit , would that work (the same way) with openpli 4 ?

Is there a linux version (or lookalike ?)

I found this http://openpli.org/f...or/#entry395307

Any experience with it ? ... Mono isn't my preferred environment , but migt be better than dualboot XP

2:

Normally i use VLC to stream from the 7000S , would that work on openpli ?

3:

I use my iPhone (webbrowser) to change channels , when not in the livingroom.

Would that work ?

Is there a better alternative ?

4:

I have a "Scart to RF converter/modulator)  , and send the current "channel" via the RF converter into my existing "house coax antenna installation".

Will the VU+ simultaniously send signal to both the DVI/HDMI and the SCART ?

Else i'm in trouble .... As the wife can't see SAT in the bedroom.

6:

My friend mentioned DVI , but i think the sellers page said HDMI.

Witch HD plug is on a Vu+Solo-2 ?

TIA , and hope to get back when i have received my new toy

/Bingo

Oopzz

I haven't planned on installing a HDD yet ... Doesn't use the pwr function.

But read that the EPG or was it channel list  (expanding) could corrupt the flash , and as i have a 100cm Gobertini with 1,5,13 & 19 it will have quite a few channels.

Should i install a hdd ?

I expect the IF to be SATA.

The Missus hates noise so i'll install a 2.5" SSD.

Do i need go get any cables or mountinbrackets ?

Would a "small" 80GB be adequate ?

/Bingo

Hi Bingo,

1. yes but make shure that you have configured DreamboxEdit to Enigma2

2. yes but I prefer DreamStream

3. yes but try the VU+ App or "blackbox" or "enigma remote"

4. yes

6. HDMI

The channel list normally does not change so often so no worries about that. For EPG you could also use a flash drive with a few gigs. 80GB is only enough if you really are not recording much. I would advise >250GB and you can only install a 2.5´´ internally. All screws and cables needed are included.

ciao

Hi Trial Thank you for the usefull ansvers :-) I would prob. have missed the Enigma2 setting in Dreamboxedit .... As most of our laptops are running linux mint , i need something that runs under linux VLC does ... Does DreamStream ? Are those apps for an iPone/Pad ... VU+ App or "blackbox" or "enigma remote" Will have a look on a >256GB SSD disk , but might start out with a USB stick. And get a new HDMi cable for the TV connection. I suppose (hope) there are Tosink out for the 5.1 sound. Btw. I had to reorder the receiver from hm-sat in Germany , as there are no "black" in Denmark , only white models. But hm-sat have just confirmed ,and it might even be shipped today. Thanx again /Bingo

Hi,

I think DreamboxEdit works in wine but there is also a new alternate program called sesemono but I think it also needs wine. DreamStream works perfectly under Linux I use it in Ubuntu. The apps I named are for iSomething.

ciao

Got my VU+Solo2 thursday , and installed Openpli-4 today.
I tried the 08-mar image , but it hung at the purple starting screen.

Installed the 06-mar image , and all went ok(ish) .....

Install/Flash went ok , but during autosetup of my channels it seemed to FSCK up. It scanned my last head (Astra) , but then decided to re-scan my 2'nd head (4.8) again. And i had no Astra settings.

I was selecting "Simple" Diseq , A/B/C/D , with:

A = 0.8W
B = 4.8E
C = 13E
D = 19E

I also experienced that i had to restart mgcamd (1.38c) alot in order for it to open the channels.

I did a Manually network scan (del=yes) of the 4 heads , and now it seems to work ok.

Thanx to the Openpli Team for the excellent software.
And to Trial for giving me hints , tips and assurance :-)
