This is actually quite old news, and happened around March last year. Unfortunately the project was abandoned in the first days of April last year.
currently dubbed plibmc
The current interesting project is the cooperation of the openPli team and the XBMC team to build up a new all in one mediaplayer for (media being from sound in all its shapes and origins and video in all its shapes origins etc), as an integration of the enigma2 and xmbc codebase plus many new features, currently dubbed plibmc. The project is actually in quite good shape and almost ready for 1.0. The current planning is to make public release in 27 days. Stay tuned

Yesterday I found a arab forum, people talk about a new version of enigma3 being built in collaboration between vuplus and OpenPLi, which will be available very soon for VU + ULTIMO, SOLO2 and DUO2.
If you have information about this please do not hesitate to participate.

Enigma 3....... I thought I'd be the famous "Goliath" project from DMM, which has never been heard about it anymore....
Enigma is getting old....

Indeed, will it be for mipsel or ARM or...???
How is this being done: like XBMC, for all platforms, then needing some transcoding (jargon? ) - or strictly for some mipsel boxes?

That system won't be available....sure.
27 days counting from yesterday..... ( 5 + 27 = 32) as somebody has said is March 32nd, ==> Abril 1st, and April 1st is April Fools day,
In European Countries April Fools Day is one day when impossible stories may happen.
In my country, we have another day for that. It's December 28th, and its called "Día de los inocentes" ( Innocent's Day).
