Nothing to see in dmesg (logical, I don't even get a connection to the box).
Everything else is ok. I'll go and reflash it.

I have also problem with transcoding with duo2 after update. I done everything you told and It doesn't work. I run the stript "cat /proc/stb/encoder/enable" and I got message "enable" but It doesn't work. In folder /proc/stb/encoder/ I have only two choices "enable" and "enable_choices" and they have size 0 and they are empty - is it OK?
I installed plugin and everything was OK during installation, I have file " transcoding-setup.sh" in folder /etc/init.d/transcoding-setup.sh

We're looking into the issue. Do you have a password on the web interface?

Yes of course. But on the other hand, if a password is the only security measure that should keep you safe from the internet, then I am afraid you are bound to have an unpleasant surprise sooner or later. Access to a STB should always be done over a VPN tunnel, never plain over the internet.

In my case:Weird.
Can you please send the output of:
cd /proc/stb/encoder
cat enable
cd 0
cat profile
cat level
cat display_format
cat bitrate
cat gop_frameb
And also dmesg, the driver goes haywire very easily and barfs the logs in that case.
Can you also try it with wget and then add the -S option?
And as a last resort we might have to use tcpdump/tshark and/or strace

Didn't run all your requests since there is obviously something wrong with the basic setup right now
It appears the current version of the filestreamproxy doesn't handle http authentication well. If you disable it in the webif, it will work.

Did you also read all other recommendations and carry them out?

Noticed that the bitrate is now set at 2 Mb/s. No problem for me but may cause problems for people with limited upstream bandwidth e.g. ADSL
Do I understand correctly that OpenPLi removed TranscodingSetup plugin?
I don't think it's justified.
It is important to be able to adjust bitrate and framerate when necessary.
It is not something that is done once and for all and a setting of 2 Mbit/s may not suit everybody.

Something might be back, we just want a single solution for all boxes (that support transcoding), not separate code for each vendor...
For the moment it's removed because most of the selections in the plugin don't work, and quite a few simply crash the encoder.

So basically now we have working transcoding but without possibility to have additional settings via plugin? I tested transcoding on Duo2 and it works on my VLC.

streaming works to vlc but not the 8002 one.
Posted 10 March 2014 - 13:48
8002 also works but it takes a few sec for video to show, at least on duo2
Posted 10 March 2014 - 16:04
That sounds familiar. As I said earlier, the drivers are very sensitive and the transcoding breaks easily, in that state only a reboot helps. You can check it with "dmesg", if it shows a kernel OOPS, a reboot is necessary.HOWEVER: Installed an upgrade of a video plug-in last night and rebooted. After this reboot the transcoder actually works!! Must have rebooted at least 3-4 times prior while trying to resolve the transcoding problems without success. Have no idea why it works now but it does.
