The icons will upgraded while you're zapping....
Possibly during scanning something needs still be adjusted (plus some finetuning...)

That 'upgrade on zap' indeed works, and the status survives a reboot. So that's fine!

But we really need the 'upgrade on scan'; without that it's still not very useful. I hope this is still WiP?

Upgrade on scan should also work... It is upload from settings that doesn't work...
Fastscan, cable scan and normal scan should push the caids...

Yep; I scanned several satellites and no encrypted flags show. That happens only after zapping to a service.

I saw something was cached there, but probably it is buggy

I have done some more scans, and the results are vary varying. Sometimes some flags show after the scan, sometimes none at all.

As stated earlier this doesn't work for all providers on service scan directly, as only some provide the proper flags to detect if the service is encrypted or not.
Else you have to do a PMT-Scan for each service, which would make the scan speed worse.

But on tuning the flag is always set correctly.

What is a 'PMT scan'? And what is worse about it? Takes long(er)?

I wouldn't sacrifice scan speed just to have a FTA/encrypted icon.

Just a thought from a normal user.

Hi,

Sounds a good idea to me to have the caid defined while scanning, that's the best time to do so.

Is total scanning speed really so important, when you launch a scanning, you never know how long it will last, especially if you enable the auto TP update and while scanning you can't do anything else with the box anyway.

I also point out that even if background scanning is set to on, this doesn't update the crypto icons on the services that are on the same TP.

Oh, yes, I would. Absolutely!
Also a normal user here (who doesn't want to zap to numerous services only to find out it can't be watched).
But I'm not sure if a scan would really have to take any longer to be thorough?

The need has been thoroughly explained above.
Encryption flags showing that you can't watch a service, so it saves you from zapping to it and wait in vain.
So this 'stupid flag' provides valuable information.
