Hi,

When I press the Filelist button on my Xtrend ET9000 RCU I get the File selection menu (sorry not sure of the official name of this screen).

With the blue button it is possible to sort in different way the file list alphabetic, date and time,...  which is great.

Most of the time sort order and its opposite are just close to each other A-z  Z-a ...  except for the date and time sort both are not close to each other.

So I would like to have the sort [1] and [31] close to each other this sounds more logical to me.

Small changes to improve ergonomy.  ;)

I don't know if this matter but the language selected on my system is French.

Here can be more perspectives on it.

I do not know, why on your box it is as you wrote, but on my boxes it is as:

[1], [A-z], [fA-z], [Random], [31], [Z-a], [fZ-a]

usualy i am using [1] and when I am looking for some item, i am switching to [A-z]. I think, sequences are fully logical - more than A-z, Z-a, [1],[31].

Hi,

Check this option, press the blue button and you will see what I mean.

File are sorted by: increasing date order:

 31 (increasing date order - older first), press blue you have Z-a , blue, fZa - blue - 1 (decreasing date order) - blue - A-z - blue - fAz - blue - random - blue - 31 (back to increasing date order). I could not find any logics in this sort order.

Please group the same sort option together:

A-z - blue - Z-a - blue - fAz - blue - fZa - blue - 1 (decreasing date order most recent first) - blue - 31 (increasing date order - older first) - blue - random - blue - back to A-z

So when we saw a list sorted in a way we know that pressing again the blue button will sort it just in the opposite way.

Why is is more logical to have:   [1], [A-z], [fA-z], [Random], [31], [Z-a], [fZ-a] than having each oposite close to each other?

When I saw the list sorted in a way [1] I was expecting that by pressing only once the blue button I have got the [31]

So for me it is more logical to group [1] and [31] close to each other same applies for other sort function more logical to have it and its opposite close to each other.

[1][31][A-z][Z-a][fA-z][fZ-a][Random]

A-z/Z-a could be logical on some PC's filemanager, but it is for recorded movie :-)  When looking for some, then usualy using sort by date - last as first or A-z. It is logical.

If you sequences begins with [31], and you want begin with [1], go to setting in Movieplayer and switch to it.

When you want this own sequences, download MovieSelection.py and change order in definition "l_moviesort" (line about 55), place it into Screen directory and setup it for backup. Then restart GUI.

But I think, when you set in Movieplayer's Setup menu sorting into [1] ( = new recorded are top) as first, then ( I think), you will be agree with me, that nex [A-z] is very useful. Better than [31].

In extreme case there could be added item into Movieplayer setting: Shortcuts sorting order: opposite / standard, but I do not know, if team will be agree.

Howgh :-)

possible solution:

in movieplayer setting:

  - Standard sort shortcuts order   Yes/No .

Default as No = older status, and Yes = [1],[31], Az, Za ...

Hi,

Thanks to take care of this suggestion, I am not at home right now to test but are the RCU number keys used in this selection screen?

If not, can we imagine to use them to quickly select the sort method? This can be a fast way to switch from different views/sort methods.

#2 [31]

#3 [A-z]

#4 [Z-a]

#5 [fA-z]

#6 [fZ-a]

l_movielist is not redone as far I can see once the config is changed.

And this line

+l_moviesort = []
is not required

configurable ? Because this new must not be ok for some users (and for me too).

l_movielist is redone ... tried, works...

see on line

+		if self.shortcuts_sort != config.movielist.shortcuts_sort_order.value:
+			global l_moviesort
+			l_moviesort = set_shortcuts_order(config.movielist.shortcuts_sort_order.value)

Just make it a function that returns the correct table (order)...

Or do not make it configurable is likely much better in this case.

Hi,

I am just back home and test the numerical keys on the RCU and I discovered this great feature search by letter with GSM style keyboard.

I also discovered that P+/P- just immediately at the beginning / end of a list which is great too since this a kind of way to "replace" the opposite order search.

We discovered nearly daily new nice features in OpenPli. The learning curve never stop!   :)

Up-to-you, I am still convinced that changing the sort order to something "more natural/user friendly" is a good point especially if you already have prepare it with a new parameter so former user of E2 can keep the old way and other choose the new way.

But indeed I have found a work-around to my "problem" with the P+/P-

When it will be still as it is, we both will be satisfied. You have P+/P- and I have most used sorts together. Believe me, that although your notice seems as relevant, in practice is better this sequences as is. :)  Littlesat wants not next configurable items.

Perhaps we should have a 'long blue' to either return to default sort or return to previous sort.  At the moment I like the 3-2-1 sort but occasionally do the next sort (AZ).  However, then I want to return to 3-2-1 which is five presses of the 'short blue' button...  A 'long blue' would be convenient and would not change other functions.

def do_sort(self):
		index = 0
		for index, item in enumerate(l_moviesort):
			if int(item[0]) == int(config.movielist.moviesort.value):
				break
		if index >= len(l_moviesort) - 1:
			index = 0
		else:
			index += 1

I guess it would involve defining a new function 'previous_sort(self)' and associating it with a 'long blue' keypress?
