I cannot agree ...  you can use P+/P- and it is almost same as 31, Z-a  ( and it is faster than sort...)

About color buttons and short/long - not all users using sorting under "blue". It is default setting after instalation fresh image only. I am using f.rg. under blue - cut editor, and sorting is under Radio... will be then short/long Radio, TV etc too ?

Shuffle is most cases used for playback audio files. I am not using "flat alphabetic", "flat alphabetic reverse", but I will not want remove it due it...

Long-press should also be made configurable. See attached screenie where both short- and long press can be set to all possible functions.

I know, that it can be as long too, but then there in movieplayer will be variants for "big head" ;)

Good, I created a post about this subject but this one is more active :) .

I discovered this great feature search by letter with GSM style keyboard.

I also discovered that P+/P- just immediately at the beginning / end of a list

A few years ago, I discussed with a developer to improve functions in MoviePlayer and as I have a lot of entries in a directory, I asked for using numeric keys to access directly to the first letter, he did it and he added P+P-. These functions are very convenient but it's a little boring there are no warning or alert box to inform the users of these new functionalities  .

Perhaps we should have a 'long blue' to either return to default sort or return to previous sort

I shall be interested to go directly to the previous choice.

But with the current implementation I cannot avoid using the other sorts (the ones I don't want to use) because one has to press the blue button another 5 times to get past them.

I have the same problem, I have to run all the sorts while I only use 2. Even if I have several directories (daughter films, series, sport, informations, films...), the "films" directories has several hundred of entries. Thus every sort is very long.

Previously, I suggest to have a sub menu to choice the sorts we want to use :

#1 [1]                         yes/no

#2 [31]                       yes/no

#3 [A-z]                      yes/no

#4 [Z-a]                      yes/no

#5 [fA-z]                     yes/no

#6 [fZ-a]                     yes/no

#0 [Random]              yes/no

If somebody can do something, I think we will be several guys to enjoy this improvement :) .

Hi,

We can no longer use the numerical keys since they are already usable for "sms style" search, which is very convenient.

To add more quick access to sort option we then need to use other keys on the RCU.

We can also imagine to have a key press to get a menu where we directely select the desired sort order so in 2 key press we can have it sorted like we want.

A little bit like the blue button does when watching TV.

Ok, there could be it as:

Menu->Green->choicebox with select 1 to 7 . And choicebox with sorting as programeable under: colors,tv,radio, text buttons

Possibly we should consider instead of toggling with the button show a choicebox with the possible choises instead...

there can exist both - and both as programeable. Old with cyclic switching ("Sort"),  and new as choicebox with choices with item name "Sort choices".

It is several lines only...

Here it is. Now are 2 item for programeable buttons:

"Sort" ... cyclic switching between sort types

"Sort by" ... new  - select type in opened choicebox

"Sort by" is added into main menu of Movieplayer too. I did not add it under Green ( as there are Setting... and Net... ).

And did not set it as default sort type for blue programeable button. Here is still old "Sort".

I hope, I did not forget something, when I made patch.

Sorry, I don't understand very well English, thus I have some difficulties to understand all what you say. However, I thought it would be interesting to do the choice in the Movie Player parameters as we can do in the Timer when we choice to execute the timer : Monday, Wednesday, Thursday but not the other days.

When the choice is done, we have only the sorts chosen when we press on the blue key (on the chosen key) and it's cyclic.

Pr2, I have kept the numbers because I done a copy and paste and I thought it was a list.

Thank you.

You can set under RED or GREEN or YELLOW or BLUE or TV or RADIO or TEXT there in Movieplayer Setting item "Sort by" and then this button will in movielayer display submenu, where you will see numbered all sort types and you can select it with OK or with NUMBER.

And in Movieplayer Menu it is added as "Sort by ..." too.

I think, today it is in image added yet.

Should we consider to make it default?

Hi,

I've done the update and I can use this new function :) .

2 little points :

- when the cursor is on the directory name, there is no text for the colour buttons ; there is text when the cursor in on a movie name,

- as I use only 2 sorts : "by date" (decrease 01/01/2014 - > 01/01/2010) and "alphabetic", I would hope to choice them with checkbox or "yes/no" for the cyclic sort ; it would be convenient.

Thank you :) .

Yes I've seen it, it's convenient, thank you, but it's a little less convenient than press only one key and the same key for the cyclic sort ;) .

Don't worry, I'm happy with this improvement :) .

I didn't completely follow the entire thread, but will this only influence the sort order of the movie list, or also other sort orders ?
