Maybe I missed something but I am not able anymore to stream sat channels on my PC (using OpenWebIf and VLC) or on my Android phone (using DreamDroid or dream EPG premium). I have set a password on my boxes using passwd command. I tried on a ET6500 and on a Vu+ Ultimo.

 

My OpenWeb If configuration is :

 

OpenWebIf enabled : yes

http port : 8085 (for the ET6500)

http authentification : yes

enable https : yes

https port : 443

all other configuration settings are set to : no (including authentification for streaming).

 

On my PC, VLC ask for a user/password. I put the one I use for OpenWebIf or Telnet but I always get an authentification error.

 

I set http authentifcation to no and I was able again to Stream sat channel (but I do not want to let OpenWebIf running without a user/password security check).

 

Is there a specific user/password for streaming ? If yes, how can I change it ?

great now port 8001 and 8002 wont stream with vlc...

I think that would be more appropriate to check by value "config.OpenWebif.auth_for_streaming".

That is not really a bug report with valuable background to help debugging.

same problem.

if you set http authentification to no, port 8001 and 8002 both work fine.

if i set http authentification to yes, vlc asks for username and passwd but when i give the same

username and passwd that i´m using for DCC nothing happens.

Both port 8001 and 8002? I am pretty sure 8002 works, at least tested with mplayer (-user -passwd).

i have to be more precise here;  vlc doesn't accept my username and passwd,

although it´s the same as i´m using in DCC.

You still did not specify what port you're using (streaming or transcoding).

 

Also I don't understand what you exactly mean with "does not accept". Is vlc denying the combo by itself or does it only forward the denial from the other side?

streaming does not work on 8001 and 8002 from vlc or vu+ player app.

That's interesting, because they're handled by two different programs.

 

Over here it just works (of course) using mplayer -user -passwd <url>. So it's probably something else. Please try without authentication.

I tested this on my ultimo also:

 

Firmware version: 2014-05-09 19:05:44 Gui version: 2014-03-31

 

http authentication is on yes, authentication for streaming is on no and this works, on my et1000 with the latest openpli version it asks for username and password, when i enter root/andthepassword it works, but i dont want this I just want to stream without having to enter root and pw all the time

Try again tomorrow. A change has been committed that makes enigma respect the different settings for webif and streaming.

For those of you still having problems with transcoding/8002 please try the following:

 

login to the receiver

type:

killall streamproxy

streamproxy -f

 

Now try again and record the output. Post the output here or send it to me by PM (warning: the log may contain passwords!)

I updated my ET-10000 and rebooted, still asking for username/password in VLC, my ultimo with older image and same vlc doesnt ask. Problem is still there

@Erik Slagter, thank you, I see that the config options are changed to "config.OpenWebif.auth_for_streaming".

Maybe the next step will be to remove this option from OpenWebif plugin and add it to the enigma?
Streaming is independent of OpenWebif. For example, I do not use OpenWebif, I think we can find plugins or aps which without OpenWebif used streamnig, why have not setting it in the enigma?
