If the version v8 .ipk file is in the /tmp folder - please give this telnet command :-
opkg install /tmp/*.ipk
If the telnet reply ends with "...configured" - then the plugin is installed. Finally - restart enigma.

Sorry to be a pain about this but in the telmet command opkg install /tmp/*.ipk what does the * represent is it the name of file? again sorry for my ignorance

a little knowledge of computerlanguage is at least required. If you dont know wat a wildcard(*) is then it seems to me that adding xbmc-addon to your receiver is a little bit too much for you.
Anyway: a wildcard represents one of more characters in a command , in this case it represents the name and version of the ipk that has to be installed
