Hello

I have vu+ solo2 with openPLI Image.

When I record a broadcast it has a bad picture quality.

How do I improve recording quality?

Do I have to install any other plugin or extension?

If yes Please give a link.

Thank you in advance for your help.

A recording from a sattelite/cable broadcast is a binary copy to disk of everything that is received, in digital form. So technically it is impossible that there is a quality difference when you play it back, it's binary data.

Can you explain exactly what you mean by "bad picture quality"? What differences do you observe?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Hello WanWizard Thank you for your attention. With "bad picture quality" I mean that The Recorded Video Is darker has less contrast, is not smooth, When I play a MKV OR TS video downloaded from internet Even with less pixels, they are better with contrast and quality. Theoretically the videos which I record from the receiver should be better quality. I’ll be grateful if you can help with an extension or plugin. Best Regards xx408

It can't be.

When you record something that is broadcasted, the transport stream that is received from the satellite transponder is copied directly to the file on disk, after demuxing. When you play back the recording, it is fed back into the chip that decodes the stream and creates the picture, identical to watching a live stream. There is no difference.

Therefore, if the quality of the recording is bad, the quality of the original broadcast is bad. And that was your original question.

Now you compare it to an MKV you downloaded instead of the original broadcast. You can not compare for example a poor broadcast with a lossless encoding of a blueray DVD... That will be a day-and-night difference...

Simply put, if the recording looks different from the original broadcast, the box is broken, take it back to the store and request a replacement.

You'd be the first in the world to have this particular problem though, so make sure that the problem is the box and not your perception of image quality.

I do know of cases where vu stb'es can come into a state where playback is garbled. After reboot all is normal again.

Seconded. I almost never watch SD services. On various brands and models never these problems. Digital = Digital or you have enabled all kinds of picture dishancements.
