It can't be.
When you record something that is broadcasted, the transport stream that is received from the satellite transponder is copied directly to the file on disk, after demuxing. When you play back the recording, it is fed back into the chip that decodes the stream and creates the picture, identical to watching a live stream. There is no difference.
Therefore, if the quality of the recording is bad, the quality of the original broadcast is bad. And that was your original question.
Now you compare it to an MKV you downloaded instead of the original broadcast. You can not compare for example a poor broadcast with a lossless encoding of a blueray DVD... That will be a day-and-night difference...
