All the "Dev's" in the community here work with/on OpenPli as a hobby and not as a profession.
Besides that the origin of the whole supported Linux-based STB's here lies with the: "MIPS-Broadcaom Architecture" and that's what these people specialize in and know very well. Learning the ins an outs of a new hardware architecture is usually very time consuming and probably is not going to change very soon.
A.f.a.i.k. there are specialized communities for ARM-based (Cortex A9 as in Amiko A3) STB's, also there is OpenRSi for ie. AZBox & GigaBlue (which are MIPS-based but not Broadcom hardware) and others...
ET10K user i.c.w. Samsung UE40B6000 LED HDTV. ET9K alas not functioning anymore.

Yeah, just that the mipsel is passing away. I thought OpenPli is more then just a hobby group.
Publicly supporting stb manufacturers and having close relationship is not what I call a hobby group - I could be wrong.
So I believe it is a legitimate question, unless the ARM is not on their todo list.
We should all be appreciative about their support. Thank you and keep up

Indeed! And we are, for sure! We may not agree on everything but this is beyond anything like that, not to miss the wood for the trees!
On the other hand, new stuff is coming out and it's getting more and more "convincing", so to speak
Hence the question, of course... Maybe next will be Intel's "Atom" or whatever else but...
I mean, things change, new developers may join the Team, bring in new expertise...
May they be strategising behind closed doors first, before they tell us...??

So if I like to make chrome tailpipes for an Opel in my workshop, because I happen to own an Opel and happen to like it, then in your opinion I am not busy with a hobby? Then I'm very curious to hear what you think it is what I am doing. And wht you think that. So I'd say "Yes, you are wrong".
To make it very clear:
ANY manufacturer can come to our door and ask for an OpenPLi on their product. We have a standard procedure in place which we go through with this manufacturer, and if we get to the end of it, that manufacturers box will have official OpenPLi support. And nowhere in those procedures is stated the product must be MIPSEL or Broadcom based...
Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Just to answer your question - it could also mean that you are servicing more then one Opel with the same tools you are servicing your own.
I do not call that a hobby by any means , especially when the servicing is intended for mass production. So the workshop becomes a place where you are servicing possible customers...
I could be wrong, but I know I am not
Good, so will see Openpli reborn as Pheonix did and supporting for years to come.

Since you have a bit of a problem understanding the word "Hobby", so do yourself a favour and check a dictionary. You'll see:
A hobby is a regular activity done for pleasure - typically during leisure. Continual participation in a hobby can provide substantial skill and knowledge about it.
Anyone who does an activity solely for fun is called a 'hobbyist'; whereas anyone who does an activity for a reward is a 'professional'.
Since we do this in our spare time, because we enjoy it, since nobody pays us, and there is no money involved, I'd say that we qualify as "hobbyists".
And the next time, if you like to spread accusations, better have proof and be prepared to back your statements up. Because I'm getting sick and tired of your presence here.

I had some contact with a distrubitor from GB from the Netherlands... But it is still preferable that the manufacturer contact us in this case. And it would be nice to get a bps layer, which is somehow more concrete how this should look like since a few weeks. With a bps layer from the manufacturer we can support other hardware platforms.

SH4 resellers won't spend money on devs and they don't care about enigma2 so do yourself a favor and ask the big companies like fortis
