Hi,

Did someone get transcoding to work on ET8000?

I am trying VLC with the following URL, but it doesn't work. All I can see in enigma2.log is 'stop streaming'.

http://192.168.13.12:8001/1:0:1:3ABD:514:13E:820000:0:0:0:?bitrate=512000?width=720?height=576?framerate=25000?interlaced=0?aspectratio=0

Raw stream works just fine

The SoC in the et8000 doesn't support trancoding!

Yes it does, but the drivers don't support it (yet).

Same chipset as in solo2. So no hardware support, but it should be possible to implement "simple" transcoding.

No actually not, the solo2 has a bcm7356 while the et8000 has a bcm7241. Both SoC's are not (publicly) advertised as having transcoding facilities, so who knows... But I wouldn't bet my house on it ;)

Well, as the CPU-load of the Solo2 during transcoding is only 2-3% there must be some hardware involved.

Sure there is hardware involved.... when transcoding some other functionality is offered...

Yes, that's the second video decoder. But I'm not sure if that's the one that actually does the transcoding.
Anyway: 3% CPU load certainly indicates transcoding in hardware.

So you cannot do e.g. PIP while transcoding...
