I have changed the skin_display.xml according to my wishes (larger used and remaining time).

But every online update overwrites my file with the standard version.

How can I avoid this?

Put your changes in skin_user.xml

And post it also here... All suggestions are welcome

But then skin_display is used and not skin_user. Can I select skin_user somewhere?

I've been doing the almost the same for the past few days, and I will post the result when it's done. My wishes are:

- large clock (filling complete height) in standby

- name of the running program LARGE, service name small (reverse as to it is now)

- name of the running media LARGE, no length and remaining times, so longer names can fit and can be read easily

- tiny recording (a few pixels) indicator but blinking, anything static won't be noticed

Most of it is done now.

The procedure:

- copy the skin_display.xml from the skink directory to /etc/enigma2

- rename it to skin_user.xml

- now edit this file

... and after your procedure skin_user is used automatically instead of skin_display?

Not instead, but in addition to.

All skins XML files stack up. The "user" is always the last to load, so it overrides all others (one skin to rule them all...).

After parsing, skin information that is no longer in use (because of being replaced by another skin for example) is discarded and won't take up memory. So there's no runtime penalty for overriding skin data.

Yes, it works!

I am still working on my skin - I will post it, as soon as its ready.

My aims are totally different:

in player:

used time and remaining time bigger, omit title, progress bar better visible, no display of current time

normal bar:

no time and no title displayed, station name bigger, progress bar better visible
