Hello.

I have been using OpenPLi 3.0 and it has worked great, today i tried to flash by box with the latest 4.0 and now the box wont boot, it just freezes at the PLi splash screen.

I connected the RS232 and this is the output of the log.

And what did you install on it? Or what did the autobackup/autoinstall back after the flash?

OpenPLi 4 uses a newer version of libcrypto, so you're installing something that is not up to date.

Flash the box without any autoinstall (remove the USB stick if it's on there, or rename the backup folder on the harddisk).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

If after the flash you do need to install something that uses an old or insecure version of libcrypto, you can do so by hand:

opkg install libcrypto0.9.8

or if an other version is needed:

opkg install libcrypto-compat

Thanks for the replies.

It is a original box.

I install it on the same place where my OpenPLi 3.0 was installed (hard drive). I just downloaded the newest PLi version, unzipped to a usb drive and booted the box and pushed power to start the installation.

Is this some upgrade issue from 3.0 to 4.0, i am using an internal hard drive, maybe i should format the whole disk? or what folders do i have to delete?

If after the flash you do need to install something that uses an old or insecure version of libcrypto, you can do so by hand:

opkg install libcrypto0.9.8

or if an other version is needed:

opkg install libcrypto-compat

Thanks, but i dont think i need an older version, i just want to get 4.0 to start :)

If i connect with rs232 and check the log then i see that it gets an ip, but i cant connect with ssh and not even ping that address so i cant access the box that way.

I tried to send command to the box with rs232 and putty but it did not respond, so i guess i have to unplug the hard drive and then try to access it outside the box, or is there another way?

If you have installed the autobackup plugin in the past, there's a big chance there's an autoinstall file on the harddisk.

If so, disconnect the disk, and flash the box. After flash it should start up with the installation wizard. Go through the wizard, and when finished, switch the box off from the menu, disconnect the power, and plug the harddisk back in.

I had to reflash the image with the hard disk disconnected.

Now it seems to work. should i try to restore some kind of backup or should i manual set all my settings again?

Depends a bit on how handy you are. If you can find your way in linux, you can restore stuff manually.

When your disk is connected and the box is booted up, login via telnet, and stop enigma using

init 4

Now look on your disk for the backup folder. In there you should find a file called "PLi-Autobackup.tar.gz" and a file called "autoinstall".

If you look in the autoinstall file, you see a list of all packages you had installed manually in your OpenPLi 3 install. Go through them, and install all you need using

opkg install <packagename>

Once done, restore the contents of the backup tar file to the root. Once done, check the /tmp directory. You will find your old fstab, passwd and shadow files in there. copy those manually to /etc, and type 'reboot' to restart the box.

Now you should be in business again.
