Have you tried to boot into *STOP* mode first? What info is your TV showing? Should be something like this:Attached File  image.jpg   66.09KB   49 downloads

I have same problem, I have tested with image OpenPLi-4.0-beta-dm500hd-20140708.zip, OpenPLi-4.0-beta-dm500hd-20140707.zip. But tested with image from dreamboxupdate.com, and its work.

I wrote the same also.

Images from 07.07 and 08.07 are defect on DM500HD.

Image from 06.07. is Ok.

A "dead" DM500HD.. I think I also can confirm this isse.

I thought it was a issue with the DM500HD.. but since there are more reports, it seems that the receiver is not the problem.

I think the problem is the kernel size... dm800se had the same issue and it was solved after disabling some kernel features not it use.

Athoik's suggestion is confirmed (for those who read/speak Dutch) here:

http://openpli.org/f...van-08-07-2014/

For a fast solution: roll back to a version of a few days ago.

When the new build has run again this will probably be fixed.

I have seen a solution from athoik, but I don't know if it has been tested and implemented yet.

Please note that we have formally announced quite some time ago that we have stopped supporting Dream Multimedia hardware. The fact that you still have an OpenPLi image is thanks to people like athoik, so give him some time.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

Hello,

I think with latest kernel config the kernel is small enough to boot. Although it seems that the new OpenEmbedded it doesn't recognize the kernel config changes automatically, so probably i have to change PR_INC to force kernel rebuild or update to 3.2.61.

Here (2openpli-enigma2-4-dm500hd.nfi 48.0 MB) is a dm500hd image build directly (clean build) from sources (so you will see an OpenPLi based bootlogo). If that image works, then a kernel rebuild will solve the issue. Please report.

PS. I don't know why there is a limit in the kernel, if you are doing USB boot, there is no problem. In any case if you change something to loadable module or remove something to reduce size kernel boots.

The kernel limit is something we discovered, experienced and proved it exists... Something that was never recognised and ignored by the dmm "bobo's"...

Hi all,

i am running OpenPLi-4.0-beta-dm500hd-20140704.nfi on my DM500HD. Have not updated to a later build due to the existent warning that build is unstable. Any updates please? Not to put pressure but to understand status. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Since OpenPli has abolished the support for Dreamboxes it may well be that this issue is not handled/solved anymore. Functionality of the OpenPli features makes them bigger every time. At some point low memory boxes simply can't hold the firmware anymore.

OpenPli has pledged to support the Dreamboxes for as long as possible. Inevitably the end should come..

This has nothing to do with OpenPLi not supporting DMM, its up the community to do so...

Kernel size seems to be the problem, although kernels build from DMM are bigger (from OpenPLi) and continue to boot. They only difference (except OE) is that DMM is compressing boot partition.

The linux image is already compressed, so it's a waste to try and compress it again when writing it into the jffs2 boot partition. In fact, the boot partition is often SMALLER when you don't compress it.

That is correct, the only uncompressed file under boot is the bootlogo.jpg which saves only about 2k when compressed.

2825976 openpli-enigma2-4-dm500hd.boot.jffs2.lzo

I haven't find any other change between OpenPLi build vs DMM build, ofc DMM is still using an older OE (with older kernel etc).

Is it true that OpenPli will no longer support Dreambox boxes? Didn't know  about this and site still says it supports DMM.

If it is true then please make it official so we look for other images. However it would be a pity .. OpenPli is a great image and want to thank the contributors for years of great support.

At least would be nice to be able to go back to an older 2.1 image with working repositories on the 500HD ... even if no longer supported by the developers ... but one would know it works
