Hi all,

 

I have an original vu+duo for past few years (not a clone)

I've always used open pli as the image

I did the on line update yesterday

last night I put the box into standby, which I do everynight

this morning I switch box on and can only get sound

I switched off at back, restarted box

and all I get is the red light , the hard drive boots up and nothing else

I've disconnected power and still no life

 

any ideas please

Hi,

if you only get a red light then it might a be know problem of a Duo with capacitor. Search the internet for "vu+ duo capacitor" and you find hints how to solve it.

I need to do a search and find out whether the capacitor is worth changing or if I should just buy a new box

Only if you can buy a new box for less then an euro.

If the only the c807 capacitor needs changing the cost is less then an euro.

 

But on the other hand it is always nice too buy something new which is more up-to-date (read faster, bigger, better)

all im thinking is, if the capacitor has blown, then what will happen next?

It could be that the regulator AOZ1021 is also blown, this could also be replaced but this takes some more skills to do so.

In this topic you can find some information, but it is in Dutch, but the pictures in the pdf file give you some idea.
