Anyway, the question remains if the list of remotes to choose from in the MENU is correct?

As I said, I tried a remote from HD51 and it did not work although it is listed.

 

The possibility of using a HD51 remote would be perfect in my case.

I wonder where this list comes from, as I sincerely doubt this is correct. For example, the Zgemma H7 and the HD51 (to name a few) are newer than the last driver update of the ET9000...

 

If I look in the code, it seems to check if multiple are supported, and if so, it simply shows all options, so perhaps a developer should look at this.

Thanks for the heads up about changing the remote.

My ET8000 RC was playing up - only buttons down the right hand side of it are working - despite giving it a good clean.

I was not aware about the option about changing RCs but I've now swapped to "DMM normal" and am now happily using an old remote from my retired DM7000!

By the way, what is the difference between DMM normal and DMM advanced? Are they 2 different remotes?

I do not know what the difference is but "DMM Advanced" also works with my DM7000 RC on my ET8000.

DMM advanced is the one with an extra row of keys that was included with the dm8000. That's the only difference.

Are the two remotes I attached images of in post #17 normal or advanced?

The left one is and "advanced" one. I've had one too, it's not that bad. Both advanced and "non advanced" version use the same RC codes, it's only the extra rows of keys that differs.

The problem is that the ET drivers signal "I support multiple remotes" without telling which ones. When it was introduced, it supported "all" remotes currently on the market. So the code simply checks the driver flag, and if found, shows all remotes.

 

That no longer works, as time has moved on, new boxes with new remote types have been introduced, but none of those are (appearently) supported by the old ET drivers...

 

My guess: it will probably support the HD2400, it will not support the other mutants, it will not support the Zgemma's and the Formuler's. I have all the remotes, but I don't have any of the 1st gen Xtrends, so I can't check.

So do you think a VU+ or a Dreambox remote coming with the latest boxes should work?

Get a harmony remote, it will work with pretty much everything.

I happen to receive just now an ET9000 so I can test the RC including the one from DMM in about an hour or so.

@ccs, a good Harmony remote is very expenise to be used with an old satellite box although 350 is perhaps not so expensive but I'm not sure if it very good or just good. I wonder if somebody here uses it with a satellite box.

I would, however, prefer to use a remote similar to the original one or to Dreambox or HD51.

Could you please test as many different remotes as you can? Will that be on OpenPLi 4 or 6? Although it probably does not make any difference.

I tested an older Develop image. I tried besides of cource the original, DMM, Vu+ (Duo and others) and the et4000. All worked like a charme. 

As expected the Zgemma RC's didn't work. This would have been a small wonder. What I know from the past, the Formuler and Maxdigital RC's worked too.

On the other hand, maybe it would indeed be more reasonable for me to buy a Logitech Harmony 350 instead of a Dreambox remote. The price difference is not that huge.

I have just put up an advert trying to get hold of a used Dreambox remote so thanks for confirming they work.
