Exactly the reason why I have decided to abandon OpenPli! Earlier this year exactly the same problem. Kernel too big to fit in memory. OpenPli treats its users as Microsoft guineapigs. Sadly this is becoming a real issue since we want all the functions that OpenPli offers and the older boxes simply have to little RAM. A nice step would be to adopt a 'lean' OpenPli and a full-featured version. OpenPli developpers should initiate such a split. On the other hand they might think: A well, those old boxes are obsolete and pronr to be replaced rather sooner than later...

"The users" treat OpenPLi as Microsoft, the difference is that Microsoft costs $$$ and OpenPLi is free. Also "the users" apparently have some trouble reading, still, because end of active support for DMM hardware has been announced over a year ago.

I dont think we have a kernel issue here with dm500hd. A log from serial port can be usefull to see what's up...

If it works fine until the first reboot, it can't be a kernel issue.

So the question is:

- does it boot up ok from a cold boot?

- what happens between the boot and the reboot?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

no, i tryed everything.... deep standby, reboot, deep standby then powerswitch off, just powerswitch off... everytime it came to autumn picture and that little indication in upper left corner don't work constantly but just few seconds then is off, after 20 seconds is on again for few seconds and off again... usualy is on until device is up and go...

and when i flash, after autoreboot after flashing is done, works fine, i go thru all wizard, saerch a sattelite... but, first reboot after that and device wont work...

You mean the spinner?

Can you telnet into the box when it does that? If so, can you run a 'dmesg', and post the output here?

init 4

then open /etc/enigma2/settings in some linux editor

look for string with your language: config.osd.language=.._..

remove whole this line, save file

init 3
