Hi there,

I've installed the latest VU Duo OpenPli image on my receiver.

Installation went good - but have a small problem.

Since the installation - I now have to 19.2 options - namely:

19.2 E Astra 1KR/1L/1M/1N Ku Band

19.2 E Astra 1KR/1L/1M/1N Ka Band

Can someone explain which one I have to choose and what the difference is?

If I choose one and/or the other - I loose of lot of channels after uploading with DreamboxEdit.

I'm not sure what is happening and why?

Thanks - and I'm sorry if their is already a topic on this - I've looked but could not find it.

You can compare it to AM and FM on your radio. Different frequency bands, see http://www.ifeservic...s-it-all-mean-/

The Astra satellites at 19.2°East only provide for services downlinking in the 10.70 GHz-12.70 GHz range of the Ku band as far as I know, so I'm not sure why the Ka band is listed.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Thanks for the quick and useful response - I will use the Ku band from now on.

Ka looks very useful for the future though - maybe we can then watch TV via data channels and if we get a good download speed we could do away with our landlines and just use satellite - wishful thinking I suppose. :)

You can forget that, latency is to high for interactive use.

Yes - I always understood that the latency is only when establishing connection and is about 2 seconds.

After that you should have normal connection? Or is that to simple?

Surely if you know that you're 2 seconds behind - and after that you get a continuous stream - should not matter?

I also know that when watching lets say F1 - the start is always exact at 13:00 hrs - but on Satelite - it is always a few seconds later.

so I'm not sure why the Ka band is listed.

Astra 1L @ 19,2 Est has some Ka band services (data and feeds). From 18300 to 18700 Mhz.

That would explain it, as the default satellites.xml is auto generated.

on Eutelsat KA-SAT 9A at 9° E

i get this:

Latency: 719 ms
Jitter: 24 ms
Packet Loss: -1%

82 Ka-band spotbeams for consumer broadband services across Europe and the Mediterranean Basin.

Note: To receive Ka band transponders you need a LNB suitable for Ka band...

* Wavefrontier T90 with 28E/23E/19E/13E via SCR switches 2 x 2 x 6 user bands
