just did an update on both receivers but still no joy as it seems, therefore it appears to be more complicated than initially thought?

I think tcpdumps would be helpful here, works generally better than the crystal ball ;)

Did somebody already make an e2 log (on the client side)?

I did a tcmpdump, and posted that (but only the headers, to check if the request was passed unaltered).

I'll do an E2 log later today, not home at the moment.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Indeed interesting material that needs to be looked in to by core devs imho...

Thus resume - entering following in to eg dreambox edit ( or vi on box itself )

playing 1:0:1:B7:F:1F4:FFFF0000:0:0:0:http%3a//192.168.10.11%3a8001/1%3a0%3a1%3aB7%3aF%3a1F4%3aFFFF0000%3a0%3a0%3a0?bitrate=100000:13TH STREET_transcoded

will result in to a properly translated URL I was expecting ( based upon vlc tests and following URL does work in vlc ):

http://192.168.10.11:8001/1:0:1:B7:F:1F4:FFFF0000:0:0:0?bitrate=100000

However as Eric mentioned, this results in:

RemovePopup, id = ZapError
[Dish] tuning failed

<snip snip>

DVB service failed to tune - error 4
RemovePopup, id = ZapError
AddPopup, id = ZapError

Therefore if core devs can help out, it would be greatly appreciated :-)

error 4 = eventNoPMT

(aka PMT timeout)

Next step is to check whether a PMT section is available in the stream (pid 0x55, according to your log), by capturing the data.

I think if you start a recording, instead of zapping to the service, you should get a TS file containing the full data stream.

I can only think one sort of situation when there is no PMT and that is when tuning itself failed:

- tuner itself didn't tune properly (no signal)

- wrong PMT pid is specified (it's in the serviceref, check that...), it may have changed at some time

- transponder has not PAT or PMT at all, although "somewhat" unlikely ;)

If I understand it correctly, the problem arises only when transcoding, never when plain streaming, right?

Perhaps PMT is filtered out during transcoding...

a new PMT should be constructed and injected, as the video/audio pids and codecs will be different from the original TS.

I have no reason to believe this is no longer the case, as VLC (reportedly) still works fine.

@Erik,

Correct. I only use remote streams on my test box (no coax present), I copied a user bouquet and added "%3Fbitrate=512000" to the URL's.

@pieterg,

The .ts file remains zero bytes when I schedule a recording.

I have noticed the error message is different now, compared to my last test. I now get a "no data on transponder" timeout, instead of an "invalid service".

I have the feeling I did some interpretation the wrong way round. The enigma2 output, is that from the remote (with the tuner) receiver or the local receiver? I assumed it was the remote receiver.

The encoder should inject both PAT and PMT, it's easy to check with e.g. dvbsnoop. Some players (like mplayer, maybe vlc too) can play streams even if they're not 100% adhering to standards, mplayer can play a stream if it has no PAT nor PMT, for example.

And the new error is generated because the transcoding seems to be broken now at the ET10K end (which explains the "no data" error), since VLC doesn't work anymore.

That needs to be fixed first...

Fixed by restarting the 10K.

The error message in the GUI says: "Service Invalid! Timeout reading PMT." so that is consistent with the logs.

On a recording, the .ts file is still zero bytes.
