just to make sure you're on the correct demux.
PAT is there, otherwise e2 would not have known about the PMT pid being 0x55.
So try with dvbsnoop -demux /dev/dvb/adapter0/demuxN 0x0 till you get some data.
Then try 0x55 on the same demux.

Only demux4 gave a response (the error), all others no output at all

I used VLC to dump the raw incoming stream. Maybe this will help?

One more bit of information:
If I copy the captured ts file to my box, it plays via de filelist, but it doesn't seem to have a sound track at all.

There is one PAT section, and one PMT section.
PAT starts with 47 40 00 30, and PMT with 47 40 55 30
I think these should be repeated, if you would capture a longer fragment?
As e2 is able to find the PAT, I think it should be able to find the PMT as well...

Larger capture.
Something else I noticed: the non-transcoded stream is SD and full screen here, when I play back the captured stream, it displays as a "poststamp", with black bars top/bottom and left/right.

actually, the sections are not repeated.
So the issue is that the PMT section occurs before e2 starts the PMT filter.
I guess the PMT section should either be repeated, or delayed, in order for things to work with e2.
(vlc is not so picky, as it uses software demuxing)

Ok. So that concludes our investigation, back to the manufacturer.
That also means this needs to be checked with all other boxes that support transcoding. Who has the option to test the VU's?

Devs - Big thanks for setting this in motion ...
Unfortunately the draw back is this story ends for me unexpectedly ..
As it seems to be a driver issue. vendors ( Xtrend and VU+) need to get involved in to this game.
I did not give up yet, so let's just hope the best out of it ...

There is more.
It seems that the transcoder of the 10K generates an AAC audio track in the transcoded stream. The XP1000 that I use as client can not play that back, so it's useless as a remote "transcoded" stream client... I assume there will be more boxes with this limitation.
The 10K itself plays the dumped files without problems.

Hmmmmm, so a generic option that can be implemented is still far away and even plausible.
Another strange thing to learn from this is the XP1000 cannot deal with AAC audio?!

According to the specs, it should support both MPEG-2 AAC and MPEG-4 HE-AAC, so further investigation is needed.
If I play the dump on the XP1000, there is no audio, and a press on the yellow button reveals there are no audio tracks detected. If I play it on the ET10K, I have audio, and the yellow button shows an audio tracked named "AAC".

Just curious what will happen next, based upon debugging results I deerly hope there will be a follow up to Xtrend ( and VU ).
Though not sure who is the intermediary from PLi and moreover will be any support given from their side ... thx

We have been debugging since then. 
The above stream dumps will play on other boxes if you play it as a recording, but only once. Once the .meta file is created, there is no sound anymore. This is a cache issue in Enigma related to AAC audio, which we need to look at.
Also, sinds the stream itself plays, Enigma knows how to handle it. So we need to figure out why it does when Enigma gets it as a playback of a recording, but doesn't when Enigma gets it as a stream.
So it's too early to push this to the manufacturer, more work is needed.
