No, it has nothing to do with it.

We have figured out why it doesn't play.

Enigma expects a certain data structure in the stream, with seems to repeat in live broadcasts, but is only present once in the transcoded stream. And it appears too early in the stream, before Enigma has it's chance to start the reader for that datastructure.

We haven't figured out how to solve it. Obviously, transcoding happens in the drivers, so we can't do anything about that.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

too bad, so involvement of xtrend and Vu+ is required , who probably do not bother about this "little" project. so things most likely end here, thanks for update WanWizard

We don't know yet.

All I've said is that we don't know how to solve it yet, and solving it in the drivers is for us no option. I never said there weren't other solutions. We only haven't found one yet. ;)

Just wondering about todays status, is there any progress made or still stuck at same stage as concluded roughly three weeks ago?

I am asking as it seems lots of updates can be seen on the ET10000 so was basically hoping it is related, moreover going to reflash my ET10000 this weekend ...

Watch for et10000 driver updates with "transcoding" in the changelog. As long as that's not there, no news I am afraid.

Does it mention "Added repeating the PAT and PMT in transcoded streams"? ;)

OK yet it seems to be promising as Apache70 wrote in this topic something related to what Eric posted 8 January, in other words release notes tell us:

-encoder output PAT/PMT fix (fix streaming to e2 client)
-ci: high bandwidth support fix

Also after doing a quick update on my ET10000 it appears the new kernel ( 3.17.3 ) is not yet available which let me believe some more nights to sleep before the new feature can be tested
uname -a
Linux et10000 3.14.16 #1 SMP Mon Feb 16 04:51:49 CET 2015 mips GNU/Linux

Now just to be certain I indeed use proper transcoding settings:

Regular stream is for f1_sundace:

http%3A//192.168.10.11%3A8001/1%3A0%3A1%3A4C07%3A835%3A600%3AFFFF0000%3A0%3A0%3A0

So it is just needed to add ":bitrate=100000", right? ( 1Mbit )

Not ":bitrate", but "?bitrate". It's a URL parameter, not a part of the service ref...

Accidentally I wrote ":" but that should have been "?" hence the "%3F" in the example URL.

Great, so once the good stuff will be in it can be tested, thanks, really nice surprise !

Both kernel and drivers are not (yet) available for OpenPLi.

hi - bumping this one up after such a while ...

was just wondering where I can find the parameters that can be used, thus eg " bitrate, aspectratio " etc

seems I will install my ET10000 remotely and stick with the VuUno4K locally.

Both boxes do transcoding and I assume same params can be used, but first need to dig up which params can be used for transcoding :-).

thanks

That depends on whether you're going to use "native" xtrend transcoding on port 8001 or streamproxy transcoding on port 8002...

When I am on the road, I use a VU+ Zero, with a fallback tuner configuration to poort 8002 of my ET10000 at home, though an OpenVPN tunnel (client on the zero, server on my home router).

Works a treat, as long as you have a resonably stable internet connection. I sometimes have to resort to a wifi stick with a 3 meter USB cable, and then it takes quite a bit of positioning to get it right. ;)

@Erik - port8001 in this matter ( ET10000 ), eg:

Assume similar config when using a Vu4Kuno, the streamproxy I never used to be honest?

@WanWizard - agreed openvpn does work ( as well ipsec fritz ) but if bitrate exceeds 15Mbit also openvpn starts to throw garbage.

therefore I fall back to the already proven transcoding streams

How do you get to a bitrate of 15Mbit when you transcode? That is pretty useless and over the top bandwidth, the transcoder will not be able to fill that meaningfully.

exactly - that is why you see in the stream I posted I cap bitratere to 7,5Mbit using transcoding.

Anyway anyone where to get the flags that can be used for hw ET10000 transcoding?

I was aware of bitrate of course ( and aspectratio ) but maybe there is more interesting stuff to use ( eg buffering??? )

Even 7,5Mbps is quite high, given the fact you are transcoding at 720p or less, which is a quarter of the backwidth of an HD channel. If you take a high bitrate channel as an example, you might get about 16Mbps. This means that for the transcoded stream, 4Mbps would be more than sufficient.

Possible URL arguments:

  • bitrate (int value)
  • size (480p, 576p, 720p)
  • width (in px, int value, default determined by size)
  • height (in px, int value, default determined by size)
  • framerate (int value, default 25000)
  • aspectratio (int value, default 2 (=16:9))
  • interlaced (int value, default 0, set to 1 for progressive)

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Ultimate (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

ok thanks that is definitely something to take in consideration!

Though my eye let me believe I got better results on 7,5Mbit than 5Mbit ( eg NPO1,2,3 ).

Will check this soon, thanks again for the params
