Hi all,

 

Transcoding setting bitrate seems not to be working with Openpli 4.0 on Vu+ Duo2.

 

I changed the bitrate to 1Mbos, and it seems to have no effect, it allways takes a bit rate of around 2.5Mbit/Sec.

 

In addition I have Sundtek DVB-S2 connected to the box

How did you set the bitrate?

I installed the plugin for changing the transcoding bitrates, and using that plugin i made the changes.

The plugin from OUR feed? There are similar plugins from many sources, but they won't work with OpenPLi.

 

You can check it by looking at the file /etc/enigma2/streamproxy.conf, there you'll find all the transcoding parameters.

thank you for your replies. I was cheeking the file and the plugin was changing the file your mentioned from you.

 

I also started the streamproxy in debug mode and it was taking the parameters from the file.

Please note that the bitrate configuration is advisory, the actual bitrate will always be somewhat or much higher. You might want to test with a bitrate a lot lower to see if it does "something".

Watching HD channel arund 10-12mbit/sec, the bitrate for transcoding is set to 512kbps, instead it transcodes around 2.5mbit/sec (watching the channel on my pc and the bitrate on pc I can see it around 2.7mbit/sec). Using other images I did not have this problem, the transcoding was working fine.

Maybe your client is sending an explicit bitrate in the url, which overrides the default value in the config.

I tried different clients, vlc, balckbox, and it works in other images, do you have a Vu+ duo2 can you also test it?

Yes, I can test it. But then you will have to tell me what url is actually sent to the streamproxy. There are several methods, but easiest is this, log in to the receiver and type

 

killall streamproxy

streamproxy -f

 

Try the transcoding session and copy&paste the output here.

Something is going horribly wrong here:

 

Encoder::setprop: cannot open property /proc/stb/encoder/4519488/video_codec

 

This value should be either 0 or 1.

 

When did you last update? You may have found a bug, btw.

Hi Erik, I flashed it some days ago with OpenPLi-4.0-beta-vuduo2-20141023_usb. also did not work with OpenPLi-4.0-beta-vuduo2-20141022_usb and OpenPLi-4.0-beta-vuduo2-20141002_usb.

 

the files seems not to exist at all.

 

# cat /proc/stb/encoder/4519488/video_codec

cat: can't open '/proc/stb/encoder/4519488/video_codec': No such file or directory

These files are NOT SUPPOSED to exist (see my explanation). Please wait a while for the bug to be fixed.

you can fix this temp. with editing of

 

vi /etc/init.d/streamproxy.sh
..
    start)
        ..
        echo -n "720p" > /proc/stb/encoder/0/display_format
        echo -n "720p" > /proc/stb/encoder/1/display_format
        ;;
..

 

add both "echo" lines to the start section, save file and restart the "streamproxy"!

 

with Eriks "final" fix in the next update, you can delete this lines.

This changes the display format, not the bitrate. But the bitrate goes similarly.

it works perfect, thank you. It even transcodes the sundtek usb stick, where with other images this was not possible.

 

echo -n "500000" > /proc/stb/encoder/1/bitrate

I think the bug has been squashed, after the nightly build please update and try again.
