From time to time I have big problems while switching from one channel to an other.
Sometime it takes 5 to 10 seconds for that to complete.
It does not happen all the time, usally it takes about 2 or 3 seconds, but I have never seen that with PTS (enigma2-plugin-extensions-permanenttimeshift - 1.4b) disabled, so I believe it is related to PTS.
For PTS I am using an 64 GB pendrive mounted and formatted with ext2.
Any ideas how to analyze that problem or to solve it (other than disabling PTS) ?

I guess the best way to find out is to contact the developer of this plugin ;)

Dima73 is not the developer, but has made some good adjustments for witch I'm still very grate full.

I'm using the plugin for a long time now and have not experienced the problem you describe.

But with a USB stick the reading / writing / moving from "big" files can take some time.

I guess you are not ussing ext2, right? If yes, better to switch to ext4.

OK, if ext4 is better, then I will give it a try. Are there any special recommendations for that (options for formatting or mounting) ?

But, by the way, who is the misterious developer I should contact ? gutemine ?

The original plugin has been changed by many people, and there are for different boxes / images different versions.

But for pli images it is not a supported plugin.

Only Dima has made some changes.

But because you are the first one who has this kind of problems, i doubt that there is a problem with PTS., maybe there is a problem in combination with an other plugin.

Do you have the Pli time shift disabled?

Now I am a bit confused.

How do I disable "Pli time shift" ? What is "Pli time shift" anyway ? Is it for permanent timeshifting as well or "only" for pause ?

Since there is an extra option within the settings menu for it I belived PTS was an official PLi plugin ...

Even if my current problem is not directly related to PTS, who can I contact for PTS support ?
A few weeks ago I asked dima73 for a feature request and he told me that he is not working anymore on PTS.
Does that mean that currently nobody is "responsible" for PTS ?

I had the same problem in my vu+ duo2 with OpenPLi + PTS + oscam (from OpenPLi feeds).

I had to switch to VTi image after new drivers had been released (new drivers have solved some blocking issues for me). Nevertheless, now I have VTi + PTS (from their feeds) + oscam (copied from OpenPLi ).

I have no more zapping timing issues ever since. So the problem might be more complex than PTS issues.

That's correct

We did not pay for it, but it was very nice that there were people who made it for us

It's the timeshifting option built into enigma2, it comes for free without the need for a plugin, which generally works better (no integration problems). Both.

Yes that is the builtin one. No go and remove the PTS plugin and will probably work as you'd like.

The PTS plugin comes from the 3rd party plugin, plugins we copy as-is without any warranty, because the maintainer doesn't share the source code.

The "P" in PTS stands for Permanent.

It give's the user the ability to save ongoing timeshifts in several ways.

I'm not sure if the normal timeshifting in Pli gives the same possibilities.

You can indeed also save timeshifts with the pli build in timeshifts....

I am saying, that if you don't need that feature (which I think is true for most users), you don't need the plugin, while most users won't know that.

All I was saying was that the plugin has another purpose witch the normal timeshift has not.

A good description in the plugin download area what this plugin precisely does would not be wrong

You are one of the people who have the ability to correct this.

However, this is the plus of this plugin that, by the way, works fine for me without delays but with saving ability's

That you do not need it is fine with me, but there are people who have different wishes.

That's why a lot of people buy a Linux receiver, lots of nice plugins witch not every one uses.

offtopic ....

I remember the resistance there was against MQB, how useless it was, users did not need it, you did not need it, how bad it operated, etc, etc.

But now we have Hotkey and lots of people are loving it

... offtopic

Maybe there comes a time that Pli also incorporates PTS in it's own image.

The source is available in the PTS plugin, all *.py files

From what I can see, the PTS plugin has become fully redundant.

I have (optional) auto-timeshift with an adjustable delay as well as the option to save the timeshift buffer, continue as recording, ... inside OpenATV 4.2.
As far as I can remember, this has also already been in OpenPLi 4.0 or even 3.0 before I dropped it.

BTW: There isn't a single timeshift-plugin available from the OpenATV feeds.

Yes, I am also curious to what the built-in timeshifting lacks compared to the plugin. Source of the plugin won't help, because the internal enigma2 implementation is whole different story. It's better to try to implement the missing functionality into enigma2 itself then to keep doing reanimation on a plugin that actually has been dead for ages.

Do we have a built-in, continuously running time shift? So you can always rewind even if you didn't start the timeshift explicitly.
