Am scared to update! How can i do it?

I have a Vu+ duo running openpli 2.1 over the past 4+ years with no problems.
As i no longer get any updates i am comsidering updating to openpli 4.0 however i am truly scared that after i update for some reason my internal 1GB hard disk will not be recognized nor mounted and i would have to initialize it and as a result have to format it to make it work....
Just with this thought i do not proceed in the update as i might lose allthe recordings i gathered over the past years.
Can someone advice me how to safely proceed with the update without messing with the hard disk?
Thanks

Flashing the box wil not touch the harddisk in any way, so your recordings are safe.
If you're worried about compatibility issues, use the backupsuite to make a full backup of the box, so in case something doesn't work as planned, you can flash your old version back, including all installed plugins, settings and configuration.
Although I don't see any.

Backupsuite is in the 3rd-party feed, and that is still online for 2.1, so downloading should not be a problem?
